Default Battle of the Satelite TV

DirectTV or DishNetwork. WHich is the best deal when you get your bill?

My parents live in a no cable area. They're retired and watch TV all the time. They have DishNetwork right now, but I recently checked into the cost of them switching to DirectTV, which seems to be roughly $10 bucks less and it would allow them to upgrade their 5 year old DishNet hardware for free(something dishnet wont do.)

So Im wondering about all of the hidden fees applied. Trying to gather what I can as far as what works for them better.

Im pretty much convinced that DirectTV will be a better price for them, but Im not sure. I dont use either DirectTV or DishNetwork in my own home.

I don't have cable or either, but curious as to what people think of either as we've been pondering this luxury ourselves

Caveat emptor: Both services hide fees. So watch out.

There are different deals available, so no one can give you a clear which-is-cheaper answer. I can tell you that I had Dish Network for a few years and the service was fine but not great. I believe, overall, that Dish Network can be had for a few bucks less per month but that DirecTV may be the better overall service in terms of which channels you get with each package and things of that nature.

I recently went back to basic cable to get the lowest rate available to me in my area for 'standard' pay TV channels.

I have dish and pay less then 25 a month. it is the America's top 60 plan

We used to have cable but it got so darn expensive I believe we were paying like 100 for cable and road runner. Then bam financial difficulties hit us. So I canceled everything and for more then 2 yrs we had rabbit ears and the cheapest internet access I could find wich was bluelight a t 4.95 a month. Things started looking up again and we started discussing cable I still could not see paying that much So I shopped and shopped till I found this plan.

Sorry for the rambling
