Mine was for $155. I budget $160 so I am ok. One more hot month and then the electric bill will go down!

I've been at home by myself during the weeks lately as DH is working out of town, so the ac is set to 81 and lights stay off. The only one on is the one over the 'puter. Everything that can be is unplugged, curtains and shades drawn tight. The basement is comfortable, but the kitchen and upstairs are pretty darn hot. I do run a window unit in the bedroom, but it isn't on much since I've been having trouble sleeping.

Curious as to what the next bill will be. Our rates increased 15% due to some caps coming off. The rest of the 83% hike will be phased in over the next couple years. Fortunately, I will have moved by then ANd we have gas w/d, gas H2O, gas oven, range. Boy am I thankful!

Just got my August bill for $146. July was $135. Not too bad considering many posts I've read here and elsewhere. We are on the budget plan for $194 so well within budget.

OMG! I just went out and read my meter. Last month we used 888kWh and BGE electric cost $130.95. They won't read the meter again until Aug. 30th and already we have used 1846 kWh. and we are charged .11871 per Kwh. So my cost is already $262.40 with delivery charges and taxes!! And that doesn't include the gas portionwhich last month was $35.

And I only had budgeted $200 as that was our highest bill to date. (although I just looked and last month was $126, so the remainder rolled over -- and thank goodness -- so that means the budget actually holds 273.40. But there are still 8 more days before the meter gets read. Youguys might not see me online for a while! Sheesh!

I forgot to subtract the "Stabilization deferral rate" -- that is, we are only getting hit with the 15% hike not the full 83% hike. SO I get to subtract $84.50 from what i thought I was going to have to owe as of todays meter reading. That means, if our gas consuption was the same (hopefully it was lower), then currently I have accrued charges for 262-84.50 for electric or $177.50. That's so much better! TG!!!

Now I just really need to watch it for the next 8 days! I'll try sleeping w/o the window unit on tonight, but I don't know. The house on the middle level is already 84. Upstairs will be worse than that. Maybe I'll blow up an air mattress and sleep inthe basement. It's only 75 deg. down here.

DH comes home tomorrow night and he'll have to have the a/c every night (and the central air when he's home to keep it to at least 78) until he leaves on Sunday night.

So much to think about!

Yeah - Electric notice just came in email - 71.00 will be September's bill - I had budgeted for 76.00 and am tickled it isn't more as we are in a heat-bath wave here and with days upon days of 105+ days I was sure it would be more than last months which was 74.00.

So - we're down! Good! This bill is on the average pay plan, but it keeps cycling down? Gosh I love that!! AC here is electric. Heat, stove, water & dryer are all natural gas - my gas bill is on average as well.

I moved the extra 5.00 from the electric budget over to prepaying on the mortgage - twas tempted to move it to groceries as my grocery budget could sure use some padding, BUT just think how much better the grocery budget will look when I no longer owe on my house! So, to the mortgage it goes and we'll have beans* again next month!

*Oink- There will go the last of the $2.25 hamsteak that I've stretched to cover 5 meals - 3 so far w/leftovers!!

My electric bill from mid july-mid august is about $40. It's fairly decent for what I use. I have a 1 bedroom apt. I keep the ac on at night only, when I am sleeping, and run a fan with it too. I don't have fans or ac anywhere else in my apt....if it is too hot to sit in the living room to watch tv, I go in the bedroom and read.

My gas bill (gas stove) was pretty low this month, too. ALso about $40. Usually gas is low in the summer, and electricity high. I guess I've been out of the house more this summer than I was last summer! Last summer I had electric bills aroun $150 a month!

I'm really now sure what made this months bill so low, but hey, I'm not gonna complain!
