Default Where can I find best deal on airline tickets?

I'm looking to buy a round trip airline ticket on pretty short notice (I need to travel July 29). I've checked on Orbitz, Cheaptickets.com, Hotwire, and Priceline. For the r/t tickets I want, United shows the cheapest rate on Orbitz ($370) , but the same flight ranges from $397 on Priceline to $411 on Hotwire (even United.com is higher than the Orbitz fare).

I know this is peak travel season, but does anyone know where I might check to find a better price?

Any suggestions on where to find airline discount coupons online?

What are the originating and destination cities/airports?

What is the return date?

Originating in GSO going to COS July 29. Returning Aug 5. Are you a travel agent?

Nope. Just a curious searcher.

Sorry, I couldn't find anything substantially better. I did get a total (with fees/taxes) of $349 through CheapTickets.

I searched several other options, including +/- 1 day on the departure or return and leaving out of CLT or RDU... no dice.

Looks like you're stuck at $350 unless someone else can come up with something for you.

Well I really do appreciate you checking for me. Interesting about CheapTickets - I still get $393 with them. I'll check with them again this evening from home. I checked into using other airports too, but usually the money saved on flight is taken by parking fees, so I never do it.

Just a pricey time of year to travel..... thanks again for checking - that was really nice of you

In case you are a student, studentuniverse.com has the cheapest fairs. You have to be a student or a faculty member, though. Check it out.

Late I know, but for future reference; I used get my daughter's tickets through Expedia.com; consistently the cheapest. She flew out of Havelock, NC ~>Charlotte~>Indy; though one time she did drive up to Raleigh and it was a bit cheaper. Check out other airports in the area you are leaving from and to; we live about equal distances from St. Louis and Indy; flying in/out of Indy was at least $100 cheaper than St. Louis, and she was able to avoid O'Hare into the bargain.

Also be willing to contact the airlines directly - I've found tickets less expensive on the airline sites than the discount sites in the past. Also, some airlines -- notably southwest -- are often not included in the discount sites. Unfortunately, I haven't found a single site that always gives the best price so it does take a number of calls / website visits if you want to find that best deal.
