Default inexpensive photo developing?

I'm delving into the world of 35mm photography, but getting the film developed is not cheap. At my local Target, it's almost $7 per roll for 1 hour service, single prints, no CD. Crazy!

Where is a good, cheap place to get film developed these days? Sometimes I drop mine off at Sam's Club, but it's a bit out of the way. Any helpful hints, short of setting up my own darkroom?

Try snapfish.com ... click on 'how snapfish works' for details.

There are other services like this but I've had very good experience with snapfish, especially when it comes to film developing and prints (as opposed to digital.)

when we were using the film, we went to FoodSource. They charge $3.99 for double prints any size. Now I have digital.

For those who use digital, you can go to http:www.winkflash.com/promos/84xz93df enter the coupon code 84xz93df and get 50 free prints 4x6. They charge 99c for shipping, and their 4x6 prints are only 12c each. I used this a few weeks ago, not sure if it's still not expired.

Check out Clark Color Labs ... click on 'learn more' to see their procedure and offerings.

There are other similar services online as well. Just be sure to look for one that will supply you with a pre-paid mailer for sending in your film (like Clark).

York is another one that sends you the mailers. They were like a $1.99 a roll. However the quality of the photo paper isn't great.

Watch sales for your local drug stores, I often see Brooks, CVS and Walgreens having sales for $4.99 for a roll for 1 hr service.

You might save some money if you are patient to do next day or 2 day service.
