Question Did anyone try this?

I am running low on hair conditioner and I am not sure when I can get another one free. I just refuse to spend money on things that I used to get free after rebates and might get it again. I have plenty of shampoo and lotion.

Did anyone try to make your own hair condition?

Did anyone try to make hair conditioner by mixing shampoo and lotion, or just use lotion? Does it work ok? Thank you for your help.

I could have bought some conditioner at the dollar store, but I just refuse to spend any money, it's not like I am going to die without it, but I have long hair and the ends are always too dry. If I won't find a solution, I would have to ask my DH to cut about 3 inch of my hair. ( won't spend $$ on haircut either)

Have you tried googling homemade conditioner? I just checked and there are lots out there.

No, I have never tried lotion in my hair.

Conditioner at the store (VO5) only costs about 98 cents. I don't see how you can make it much cheaper than that.

It can be cheaper if I will use stuff for it that I got for free after rebates. I know you can get one for like 88c, but I don't want to spend that. I guess, I am too cheap.

Try washing your hair a bit less and not using conditioner at all. I only use it every 2 months or so.

I wash my hair only twice a week, sometimes 3. I think I will try to put either mayo or olive oil on the hair ends for some time before washing the hair.

Walgreens and RiteAid and Longs usualy have free things after rebate in the beginning of each month, I hope, some kind of hair conditioner will be there. I have only enough for like 6 uses, so it will last me only 3 weeks.

I have never read of any good 'detangler' but I often read of stuff you can put in for the softness effects.

I think vitamin c water? or..something, thing was it is difficult to get it in your hair.

But if you have dry ends, you really can't 'fix' that you can buy an expensive bandaid (fancy repair stuff) or you can cut it off.

If you get like a foot cut off you can donate it and the cut is free some places (my plan this summer)

you might be able to streatch the uses a bit if you water it down..or spend extra time spreading the conditioner. (more time to stretch it out over your whole head with barely any)

Personally, I'd say your going a bit far, but I have a hair thing too...so..go figure.

If you don't have conditionar and you want to do something, this may help. First, don't put lotion in your hair...it will look VERY oily.

Wash your hair and rinse in as hot of water as you can stand. Take a good quality olive oil and work it through your hair. Especialy the ends if that is where you are having problems, cover your hair with plastic, a shower cap, plastic wrap or even a shopping bag. Let it sit on there for at least 20 min. Keep it as warm as possible. Hot hair dryer, heating pad, something....

Rinse in hot water and let it dry as slowly as possible. Personally I wrap it in a towel and sleep in it that way. It's a bit damp and perfect in the morning. Or french braiding it while wet works too.

The ends of my hair, and it's waist length, are never damaged. Not because of this, I've only done it a few times, but because I never blowdry or curl my hair. If you do, then you have to do more to take care of your hair.

Hope this helps.

Thanks for your advices.
I never blow dry my hair either. But I do curl it sometimes (like once a month or so).

As far as donatin so much hair to get a free haircut, I would ask my Dh to cut it for me, He does haircuts for his friends and the kids.

I will try to use some olive oil on the ends, just the ends. My hair is ok, but if I wash it without conditioner, the ends get dry. I usually use conditioner on the ends only.

Some people like mayo, rinse out...if you have curly hair, Lubriderm works fantastic. On humid days, everyone I know uses it, natural soft shiny curls. You can add it to water and spritz with an old hairspray or other spray bottle as a leave in, too.

Isn't mayo and olive oil more expensive than a cheap bottle of conditioner? I use double coupons on VO5 and get it for free when it is on sale. Load up!

1/2 cup mayonnaise
Few drops shampoo
Lukewarm water

Mix the mayonnaise and shampoo and just enough water to mix. Apply to hair after a regular shampoo, leave on for 10 minutes, then shampoo out.

I always get conditioner and shampoo for free, and right now I am running our and don't see any free after coupon or rebater right now. That's why I refuse to spend even $1 on it. I have mayo and oil anyways, so no extra expences will be there. I have stockpile of vegetable oil which I got for almost free.

And I have tons of lotion, hoping anyone used it insead of hair conditioner to see if they got good results.

Thanks, will try the mayo.

I got Sunsilk hair conditioner free after rebate from Walgreens. Just on time! It will last me for about 8 months or so. I am so happy!
