Default Splitting toilet paper

I read a suggestion in another forum that splitting 2 ply toilet paper in half as to doouble it is a good way to save money. I read the title and thought it was a joke! But the person who wrote it seemed dead serious. Although some people joked, many other defended the practice. Do people really go to this extreme to save money?

Probably.

But really what's the point? When you rip off some toilet paper don't you generally fold it in half anyway. I think people who are frugal with toilet paper end up with yucky hands and spend more on soap and water. LMAO.

Am I just being dense here, or wouldn't it be easier just to use less toilet paper as in number of squares than spend all that time to split the toilet paper. I am assuming that there is no one in their right mind that would use a single square of toilet paper. Please don't tell me I'm wrong in this assumption!

To each their own. I do have to explain to my 5 yr old that he doesn't need to use 1/2 the roll though.

I think there are a lot more time efficient ways to save money that are a lot less messy. Isn't single ply toilet paper cheaper?
