Wash a plastic lined mattress pad?

Well, we're planning on moving dd to a "big girl bed" soon. Knowing that some sort of incident is all but inevitable, I bought a plastic lined mattress pad at the thift store. It's normal mattress pad material on one side and plastic on the other. (I actually think it might be designed for allergies??) Anyway, there aren't any washing instructions on it, can I just wash it normally but let it hang dry? Do you think it could handle the dryer too?

I have one on DSs bed, when he puked on it we washed it, it shrinks a bit, but as long as you put it back on the bed fast it stretchs nicely. Get an adult helper to stretch it back on if you can.

It will 'hold water' in the washer though, so if possible get help 'dumping' it outside or something....... (with no help you will have a puddle on your kitchen floor

! Actually when we buy our new mattress (end of the month, wih pappaps truck) we are getting one for us, no we don't have accidents, but my youngest does....though not often in my bed, I figure murpheys law it will be when we have a new never been peed on bed!

plastic in dryer is usually not a good idea. However, if the plastic is thick and you put the dryer on low it MIGHT be ok.

I would test dry it for about 15 minutes on low and see how it reacts.

Oh yeah forgot to meniton my dryer is 'weak'..so it is always on low.

Yes, we have one for an older family member, just wash on gentle. Helps to put the plastic part in, so it doesn't catch and tear. Dryer, better not too, but I do I low setting for most of the way, then air dry. Again, keep the plastic folded in, as it's not the part that needs the heat.

We drip dry over the bath tub...

I know I know, I tried, what I managed was to find the time setting is hotter than the other setting and I switched..but for the plastic cover I don't....actually works in my favor, the dryer has no low setting before it kindof broke
