Default PayPal/Equifax Free Credit Alerts

The on-line agreement (yes, some of us actually read them) says that you are authorizing them to access your credit file. Does anyone know if this will generate a "hard" or "regular" inquiry on your file? Or is the "soft" inquiry which has no impact on your credit score?

I would assume since they will be doing it themselves from their own records, it would not be a hard pull, but the easiest way to find out is to call them and ask.

Thanks genchan, although easier said than done! They will only give their phone number to members, and you have to buy one of their products to become a member. Looks like the same with their email address. ..

If you fill out the first page of the form and they can't find a credit record, they will give you a phone number to call to confirm your identity. Make up a name or "accidentally" fill in some information incorrectly and you can get their phone number that way.
