Default Handwashing Dishes & Celiing Fans?

I have a couple of questions. We have no dishwasher, so we handwash dishes in the sink. It's a double sink thing, so I usually wash in one, then set the dishes in the other side where someone rinses then. My question is, is it more economical to have the sink filled with rinse water (because it gets soapy and has to be redone) or just run the faucet when you have enough dishes in the sink to rinse?

My 2nd question is if it's at all beneficial to have ceiling fans running while the air conditioning is on? Do the ceiling fans help the air conditioner not have to work as hard, or does it just waste extra electricity? Thanks for your input everyone!

I don't think ceiling fans add much if you already have the ac on cus cold air does not rise, like warm air does.

To find out which is better on the dish thing put the plug in and start doing the dishes rinsing them under water. Count how many times you have to drain the sink then compare it to how many times you drain and refill whennn you do it the other way. Of course you have to make sure you have the same amount of dishes to be fair. You can vary how hard you run the water too. Personally I don't care if filling is more frugal, I'd always remember that I had rinsed a soapy dish in the same water as the one I was using and it would gross me out.

I have to ditto the fact that sitting in water does not rinse IMO..so unfrugal or not, I run the tap to rinse.

The ceiling fan, I run while I have the air on, with air moving I can stand the house rather warm, without I need it cooler. (up to 80 I can stand with fan, has to be 76 or less without)

Ceiling fans might help quite a bit depending on your house. Compare where your ceiling fans are to where you AC vents are. Then, since most ceiling fans can run in either direction, adjust your fan so that the cold air is flowing at "human" level. Ceiling fans are incredibly cheap to run, so if it helps at all you'll be better off.

I rinse off the crud from the dirty plates and then wash them in the soapy water. After that I put them on the dishdrainer straight away.
As far as the ceiling fan question the cheapest would be to turn off the a/c and just use the fan.

Drought and on Tank Water Washing Up Method

Learn to wash up like you had very little water, just what left in the tank, like those people in Australian outback who don’t have the luxury of town water supply. This method was told to me by 9 year old who was visiting her grandmother. Start with just enough hot water in the bottom of the sink, then you run the hot water tap , which is turned on so very gently to just a dribble, and it dribbles into the main sink, rinse under this running hot water tap. You use next to no water and only a drop or two of dishwashing detergent and you clean down your sink with this water also!

People on tank water, in Australian outback, they have it down to a fine art! A little washing up done often, using very little detergent, and very little water.

Another method is to use a small basin that fits into your sink for smaller wash up. This is the method that I use at the moment!
