This is an old thread that could stand to be revived, so I'm boosting it to the top. I think it's helpful reading how others feel that they've gone 'over the top'...might help me rethink some of my spending...so BOOST!
My unfrugal event yesterday was leaving my computer on when I left the house at 7:30 yesterday morning...I didn't know it was going to be 3:45 before I would return. |

I had to do a restaurant shop in ny last night, which is frugal, but I parked in a parking lot, which isn't, lol..... Overall, balanced out, and we had a spectacular meal which was just a treat.

Had my car professionally cleaned.
Paid for said cleaning with a credit card. Overtipped the cleaners because they were thorough and conscientious. |

I bought 4 cookbook from my book club. I haven't purchased anything for over a year but this sale was just too good. Hmmmmm....there is a reason that I don't open that mail when it comes. Only $9.99 per cookbook...not sure what happened but I had to have them.

Drove around wasting gas while 'future' house shopping. The Hubster and I are considering downsizing when we get a bit closer to retirement...so I'm probably in the four to five years too early range! Trying to get a beady eye on the neighborhoods most likely to meet our requirements at that time. Meanwhile, we are in serious need of having some mega-size garage sales before that day comes - so I could have better used my time sorting and pricing all the STUFF that fills my basement dumping grounds much of it duplicates that we don't need from the FIL's estate.
We are considering buying a home/condo early and leasing it out thru a management company - iow, letting someone else begin paying down on it. We are keeping an eye on the bubble to see if it pops, as there may be a more ideal time to buy than now. AAR (at any rate) The Hubster refuses to be an active landlord doing repairs or collecting rent, so does anyone know anything about leasing out a house thru a management company as an owner? |

Hey, we had a Cabellas open about 30 min from where we live!! When my father comes to visit he must go and pay omage to it...LOL! They always manage to talk him out of a little of his money! Or his friends (ready fishing/hunting retired rich man here) money!

I'm about to go buy one of those stupid bridal magazines so I can obsess about wedding details... i've only been looking online and my fiance complains when i disappear into the computer room too much to do so. Now I can obsess while sitting in the living room! :-P
I've also been considering buying an overpriced coffee beverage from starbucks later today because i haven't done so in a while. |

However, that gets more than balanced by the fact that we often get free lunches at work, so often I bring something in and don't need to use it that day. That happened today, so what I packed will just stay in the freezer and I'll eat it tomorrow. As for today's unfrugal thing, I will eat dinner out tonite. I have a meeting to go to once a month and I always eat out on my way from work to the meeting. But I do this every month, so it isn't really out of my regular spending routine.

Bought a pair of slippers and a pair of shoes. Both were on sale.
In the interest of full disclosure I should admit that while I needed the slippers to replace a pair that's literally falling apart (after only 5 years), the shoes were both a want and an exercise in pique. The salesman was quick to tell me that not only did they not have my size but that they "didn't normally stock the smaller sizes." I had a pair special ordered. "Don't normally stock the smaller sizes." Grumble, grumble. ![]() |
