I used to work 50-60 hour weeks for over 10 years and made lots of money doing it. I managed 7 departments and over 70 employees.... Now, however, I run a small business in my home- which keeps me busy and I enjoy it alot. I also take care of elderly parents who live here on the property in a small home. I bake our meals from scratch and am able to save thousands each year by being a more frugal, aware shopper, I am home each day for my teen when she gets home from school. My husband and I have a firewood business and I run the splitter...hard work, but it is another avenue to keep me home for my parents. i breed labradors...my female is pregnant and due next month. I make our presents. I babysit my grandchildren when one of the parents needs help. I help senior citizens that I come across understand protecting their finances from fraud. Most importantly, I have learned how to enjoy the day as it comes. I love sunrises and sunsets...I enjoy my daffodils and tulips...i enjoy my husband and am grateful for his support in my staying home. And I know, when the day comes that my parents are no longer here with me, that I did absolutely everything I could for them while I had the chance. Bored....maybe...and wonderfully so. Thanks for asking. ![]() |

Yesterday, I went shopping for an Easter dress for my daugher and I bought two dresses. Then, I went looking for a pair of shoes and bought shoes AND sandals. Oh well, none of it was too expensive and she'll wear all of them this summer.

I too needed an Easter outfit. I looked in 9 different stores before I found my shoes. SteinMart had an Agner slide marked down to $14.99, regular price $49.00. I saved on the shoes but wasted gas and time going all over town!

I believe a penny saved is a penny earned is by Ben Franklin. My unfrugal thing was buying all kinds of goodies at Aldi's yesterday. We are going on a trip and I figured this would save us form going out to eat (I hope) on the way. It will also sustain us at the zoo and museum and parks etc.

I went to lunch today, $8.50 including tax and tip. On the plus side, I have been going out much less often since I began my challenge March 1, so I really savored the experience.

I went shopping and had lunch out twice in the last 48 hours, once in a while I feel that I need to go out, I give myself free spending money up $100 about every four months, I go to the big shopping centres and look around, and buy very little that I don't need. Today I bought Art painting kit $6.99, book on exercise to go with exercise stuff that I bought on Thursday, stepper and Gym ball. (exercise stuff around $50.) more groceries that I could do without. I just would like to make some muesli bars that I saw on a website. Car cleaning items micro mitt and mirco cloths x 6 @
K-mart 15%off sale today. ![]()

It is difficult not to splurge a little during the school holidays. Yesterday I bought lunch out for the boys and me but we did wash the car ourselves so ........... We have been to a free Easter egg hunt at our local library that was quite good. And putting my youngest (5) in charge of the shopping list has made the supermarket a breeze, no "can I have......"s today!

My big budget breaker, dinner out!! It was under $20, but still!! Plus my husband bought beer, another $20.(we have to drive to another state to buy beer, so we stock up)

This is what I did with a someone who didn't speck English and had never been to school. I cut out picture of items from the catalogues made the list with pictures, just amount in numbers. Only problem is if you get another brand other than what's in the picture. Oh boy! ![]()
