Figured out costs per ounce at the grocery store. The bulk 6 lb. package of elbow noodles was .02 an ounce higher than buying two 3 lb. packages. Not a big savings, but that's what I did. I also went back over to the dollar aisle at the front of the store where the peanut butter was .15 a jar cheaper than in the regular aisle.

I'm currently getting a free month of Turner Classic Movies, which is not normally available in my Dish Network Family package (the cheapest one). Every night I remember to go through the next day's schedule and set the DVR to record all the movies that interest me. My son and I have really enjoyed watching them together.

Last night, we did Chinese takeout for Mother's Day. I took the left over moo shu chicken for lunch today. Didn't have any more pancakes so used tortillas that we had at home, so kind of made a Chinese burrito.
Also, Saturday and Sunday, I made instant oatmeal for breakfast that has been sitting in the basement pantry forever. I'm continuing to work on using up food in the house and cut down on buying more until that stuff is gone.

Time to rotate emergency supplies. Replaced items and we will eat/drink items so that they are used before they expire.
I hope readers are preparing 72 hr. emergency kits. We use old, shabby back packs to hold supplies for the 4 of us. They hang on a line of hooks on the garage wall.
I never thought our region would have a problem until a train derailment miles away required the total evacuation of our entire district.

Just got back home from a mini vacation (I know...that's not cheap), but we received a free 2 night hotel stay and $50 gas card for listening to an annoying timeshare pitch. Then while at the hotel pool, a random lady gave us 4 free passes to Silver Dollar City. We were planning to go there that afternoon anyway so we saved over $100 for admission to the park for the family. YEAH!

I decided to stay home today and have planned all of my errands for tomorrow. I'll do it all at once rather than using 2 days to do it.

Instead of purchasing new clothes I went to pick up 7 bags of clothes from freecycle! I got a lot of cool stuff, the rest I will freecycle.

What I did today...
I finally introduced myself on the Intro forum (not necessarily frugal but some of you may be wondering why I am posting here!).
Today I am cooking a turkey that was in my freezer since last Thanksgiving. Last week I made a spreadsheet of everything in the freezer. I found out I had enough meat for about 60 dinner meals (I actually couldn’t believe it). I divided the meat according to type and assigned it a specific dinner menu. I plugged each menu into my calendar and found I have enough dinner menus to go until July 7. I am not going to buy anymore meat until the end of June when we are almost out – and then only buy what is on sale to replenish. I had been getting very lazy with our food budget and had consistently gone over each month this year (not frugal), so I am going to use up everything. Now that I have a mission to eat up what we have, the sale meat holds no interest for me.
Also, I used my RX credit on my groceries today at our local Fry’s – a good deal if you need an RX. Had a coupon to get $20 for each new RX up to $60. Although I wish dh wasn’t sick, I was glad to make the $ go further.

Used the Roma tomatoes in the crisper for hamburgers tonight instead of stopping off to buy slicing tomatoes. Not that those are so costly, but we all know I would've bought something else at the grocery as well. We were fine w/the lil' tomat'ers!!

Yesterday--Bought ten pounds at $0.49/lb chicken leg quarters. Brought it home, divided portions and froze. Also, bought 1.5 pounds of $1.69 chorizo, and similarly divided and froze. Five pounds of carrots, $0.49/lb.

I picked up a financial book at the library instead of buying it. At the library I came across a DVD that my husband has been willing to rent for $3.99 at blockbusters and borrowed it for free for 7 days. I ate left overs today. I've recently discovered the red box movie rentals and they are a great bargain for new releases. I can shop for groceries and pick up a movie at the same time.

DH & I have been organizing, prepping and painting the largest bedrm and bathrm the last 3 days. We've not been further than the patio! Hard physical work means no spend days.
This project has been on the list for 2 yrs. and the paint and supplies have been on hand for 3 yrs. The 1st yr. surgery and post op treatment cancelled the plan. Last year visitors came earlier than I figured and by the time the summer enslaught ended...we were exhausted.
