Got sterling silver earrings for 95% off! $1.25 for $25 earrings.

I had a coupon for $10 off on a $10 or more purchase at J C Penney. Well, it turns out JCP stacks sales promotions. So I found a pair for $25 that was on sale for $12.50. Then there was some sort of store wide promotion that gave me 10% off that, bringing the price to $11.25. Then they took off the $10 for my coupon, leaving me to pay only $1.25. Of course if I had found earrings I wanted at a smaller original price, I could have gotten them free, which I have done at JCP before.

After looking at that guy's cool 450 sq.ft. apartment I went thru storage last night and pulled out a neat old long oak framed beveled mirror and relocated it to the kitchen behind the backsplash. I had bought this long ago at an estate sale and it used to hang in our bedroom until I rearranged the furniture in there. It had been hiding in the sunroom for a few years unused.

Now this isn't exactly a $ saved story, but a repurpose or using what you've already got story. I also moved a small couch side table that was just kind of sitting in CashHappySon's old empty room to a funky little unused corner in the kitchen and moved a lamp from in-law's estate in there. For now, it makes me happy!

And it kept me from doing retail therapy because my house isn't as utilized as that creative fellow's apartment's every square inch!

Last night I stayed at a friend's to avoid paying parking downtown. I'm also carrying around a bag of food with me wherever I go this week so I dont have to buy any while staying at the hotel for the next few days.

Made coffee w/my little wire filter instead of the disposable paper ones. I think I paid somewhere in the $2-4 range five or six years ago for it. I use it daily.

We ate leftovers for lunch.

I mowed my own lawn today and used gas leftover from fall. I really wonder how much we paid per gallon for that!!

Might have been more frugal to siphon out that gas and put it in your car.

I found a gorgeous Jones New York silk wrap dress, black, with red flowers, very elegant, for a conference dinner I have to attend - for $5 at the thrift store!! This shop has some amazing designer things, I didn't know they EVER wind up at Goodwill...

Squashed the TP roll flat before installation on the holder - it now goes thump, thump and issues out 4 or 5 squares as opposed to just being round and when FrugalSon hits it and it spews forth 32 squares and then stops up the toilet which then overflows which might over time result in floor rot and a huge repair bill!

I think I learned this trick from someone on this forum! While this might be obvious or old-hat to some of you, it was new to me when I GRATEFULLY heard it.

Never understood this tip. Why would anyone take off 32 sheets of paper at a time? I pull off 2 squares at a time. Always have. I'll do a lot more in a public restroom where the paper is see through, but at home, it is 2 sheets.

When the roll gets a little crushed in the package, I actually work to round it out so it rolls smoothly.

Because FrugalSon just can't seem to grasp that he doesn't need that much. NO MATTER that it's the three-thousandth time I've told him to start w/4 or 5 squares and then add a little more as needed. He just let's 'er fly and we have had many MANY stop-ups. He is a special needs child. The phrase "Bubba your bum is just not that big" has been oft heard around our house!

Grated up two hotel soaps and dissolved in water for use with laundry. Will add a scoop of borax as well. I don't recommend this if you have hard water or really dirty laundry. Real detergent works better, but soap is sufficient for lightly used clothing.

I walked.

Actually, I parked the car last Friday morning after running my errands, and I've not started it all weekend.

I pay a premium to live where I do, but I can walk to the office, to shops, and to a variety of inexpensive ethnic restaurants.

Lucky me.

My grocery store has a box that rents out new movies. Because it was my first time, I rented two movies for $1.07 including tax. Saw two great movies for less in stead of paying $3.99 each. Normally the movies are $1. each. I think it's a good deal and you can shop as well.

This weekend we opted to replace our defunct refrigerator w/a plainjane model. After checking around online, Hubster went to do the shopping since I twisted my ankle and he called home w/a $150 more price difference for one like I wanted which would've been a black one. I can buy a lot of windex at the dollar store (I do buy the big refill jug) for $150.00 so, the white one it is! I want cold food, and for my tastes it is not necessary for me to make a design statement. Wants vs. Needs, remember?

This wasn't today, but before I took my trip... I went to a consignment shop to see if they would take some of my clothes, and did NOT buy the dress that I liked so much (priced at $12-- a steal), instead when I dropped off clothes at goodwill, they gave me a 20% off coupon, and I found 2 tank tops for under $4! Now THAT was a steal

I saved money by watching a movie "On Demand" and essentially saving more than half the cost of a theater ticket (not including snacks) or even 9/10ths the cost of a DVD, all for waiting for the movie to show up!
