Forget the Walgreens cartridge problem. I ran an "adjustment/alignment" program on my printer & now it is printing better than ever. I will be returning the $50 of cartridges to Staples. Not their fault but just do NOT need to spend the $50.

this week has NOT been frugal for me. My Dad was in the hospital-now in a rehab program so I am driving everyday and extra miles every working day to visit him. In addition between work and visits I have been too pooped & hungry to even defrost already cooked food and bought 3 meals out this week. Budget is BLOWN for Feb and prob will be for Mar as he is scheduled for therapy all this week.

I stayed home. Did not spend any money and had a no spend gas day. Instead of going to the grocery store to buy lunch ingredients, I , made egg salad (enough for two days. I decided to stay home and clean out a couple of rooms.

I made a homemade rain barrel to catch rain water for my garden. Hopefully this year we'll have plenty of rain and not go through a drought like last year.

I bought three 55 gallon food grade barrels from our local co-op for $10 each.

I have only prepared one as of yet, but the plan is to link all three together. I drilled a hole close to the bottom to attach a water faucet, then painted them with plastic paint. Then I attached a flexible down spout to our existing gutter. I also cut a hole in the top of the barrel to catch the rain water. Covered the hole with a piece of window screen to keep out leaves and critters. Inserted down spout into the hole. Now we wait for rain!

My veggie garden is only about 10 - 15 feet from my barrel. If all goes well I'll have 165 gallons of water for free!

I have photos over on photobucket and the link to my albums are in my signature.

I had a no spend, no use of gas day yesterday. Cooked supper on the grill using steaks that I bought on sale. I also found a quarter!

This one isn't really with our money, but still frugal. My wife is in charge of a wine tasting and sale at our temple this weekend. We're going to have a table with sparkling cider for the kids while the grown-ups are tasting wine. We checked around and the best price for store-brand sparkling cider is $2.29/bottle. We were just at Wegmans and they had flavored mineral water for $1.00/bottle so we bought a bottle to taste. If it is okay stuff, we'll use that instead of the more expensive cider product. Doesn't save us any money personally but saves the organization money. Since the event is a fundraiser, keeping expenses down is important.

Default chicken soup

maybe for the soul, but certainly for the body, is simmering away on the stove now. I'm hoping it'll be nice enough to hang some clothes out tomorrow.

Anyway, I was reading the press releases (I have SO much to do haha) and it seems 1800Free411 has some kind of thing going. They’re calling it 4/11 day and they’re handing out free travel to all kinds of folks. I know how much everyone likes going places, just thought you should know.

In fact, I made a call and asked for some random number. Since I'm using a voip phone it's technically "free" and since free411 was free, I might get a chance to get free tickets. How frugal can you get?

I ate last nights left overs for lunch and gave my hubby some to take to work for his lunch. I hate wasting food.

I skipped my afternoon class. lol. I would have packed my lunch, but being on campus all day means I have to buy dinner (at least some portion of dinner), and because I'm leaving for class around dinnertime, I'll be eating at home before I go. Saves me about $5

Just got back from vacation Friday evening and have been eating the left overs from the vacation. We take a cooler and keep items cold and frozen until we get home. So I can say that I have 2 no spend days and 2 no use gas days.

I'm cheating. Thanks to the new baby bean and just being home from the hospital we've haven't spent any money on anything or used any gas for the past 4 days. I guess that's the good thing about being a tired, stressed out brand new parent!@

MIke, that's so awesome that you converted your car to veggie oil. I want to do that but am afraid I lack the technical knowledge to pull it off. I'm thinking of converting a scooter or something to veggie oil instead, just to try it out.
