I just made a big pot of potato leek soup. DW and I had a bowl already and I portioned the rest off in containers and froze it.

Spent NOTHING except the gas already in my car to get to/from work. I really would have liked to pick up something for dinner but since my company did NOT do ANY raises this Jan (as they have for 17 years) I can no lonmger afford this Friday night "treat."

We took my cousin out to dinner last night for his birthday. That isn't the frugal part, of course, but there were 5 of us. We got just 3 appetizers and 3 entrees and shared them between us, and still had leftovers that I took to work today.
The 3 of us also went out to dinner Friday night. We got 1 appetizer and 2 entrees and had plenty of food for all of us.
Dining out isn't inherently frugal, but at least we do our best to manage the costs when we do dine out.

Sunday night, my husband bought one Italian dinner to go that we had at home. We had water at home with our dinner. We had more than enough for both of us.

Take-out is an even cheaper way to eat "out" since you save the 20% tip.

Our local Goodwill FINALLY opened yesterday - got DH 4 long-sleeved Carhart t-shirts ($2.50 ea), g-daughter a Tommy Hillfinger bathrobe ($3) for her 9th birthday today. For her b-day party tonight, making cupcakes and using streamers I got on clearance last fall (25 cents) for decorations. Made her b-day card on computer.

Thur: had oral surgery and took a sick day. Did NOT adjust thermostat to have heat on my at home temp. Left it at my away setting and just put on a sweater.
Fri: stopped at my local market to buy some tofu. Found they had changed brands, pkg was 12.5% smaller and they had also increased the price by 20%. That is a 35% increase!!! Walked out without buying ANYTHING. Will get at another market today when I do my standard Saturday shopping run. I can understand/take the 10-20% we have been seeing but NOT this much.

Ate freezer pancakes for breakfast. I used to actually throw away the leftovers when I made pancakes. Now I just throw them into a freezer bag, squeeze out the air, and save for another day. A quick zap in the microwave, then into the toaster for a super quick breakfast. (works wonderfully with waffles too).
My mom and I spent the week trying to use up some food from the freezer. Among the meals we concocted (without having to run to the store): kielbasa and bean soup, enchilada casserole, sausage and potato soup.

Jodi:
My breakfast plan for today is pancakes & includes making extra for another meal.
Today I am staying home (no gas, no spend). I will at least start making the deserts for DD baby shower next month (homemade vs store bought saves about $10 since I got all the ingredients on sale between Thanksgiving & Christmas). I will also roast the 0.69/lb chicken I bought Sat that will give me 3 meals next week + 3 added to my freezer. Because I will have the oven on I will be able to reduce the setting on my thermostat. Because I am batch cooking/baking the oven will be on less time than cooking individually.

Bought $1/lb pears. I know some of you get cheaper produce, but that's a good deal to me. I'll cook some down to make a dab of pear butter. I've been saving little 2 oz jars I can put it in and freeze.

I heard about the Texas refinery explosion while at work today so I tanked up on my way home. I didn't really need gas but I "suspect" as soon as the markets reopen today the price of gasoline will jump up quite a bit.
I pass 5-6 gas stations along my home/work commute I have a good idea of best $$$. Two are always WAAAY high priced. The other 4 are usually very close. Nonday am prices ranged $3.07-3.10. By 2:30 pm one staion had jumped to $3.19. I topped up at 3.07.
This only "saved me" about $1 but every little bit helps.

Got a new energy efficient refrigerator to replace the old one. Didn't have water connection for the refrigerator and Sears was charging 60$ for installing one. Found the refrigerator-hookup kit in Home Depot for 8$ and installed it myself.

I "wish" i had a no spend day today. However, the cartridges I had refilled for $5 each at walgreens a month ago already died. I bought totally new Dell cartidges for my printer at staples today.
You can just bet I am going to Walgreens tomorrow to complain about the "quality" of their refills. If I do not get a cc credit I WILL dispute the cc charge bill .

I had two things yesterday. One was that 30 cents I saved at the pet shop (see my blog) by noticing a pricing error. The shelf tag said an item was $2.49 but the item itself was marked $2.79. I got the manager to do a price adjustment on that.
The other saved a a bit more. My daughter and I go to the Philadelphia Flower Show every year, which starts on Sunday. Tickets are $24 adult/$17 child at the door. Yesterday, after work, I made sure to stop and pick up advance tickets which are sold at a discount - $22 and $13 - so I saved $6.00.

My cats normally eat dry or moist cat food. I had a can of quality dog food that I keep for emergencies for my son's dog. They ran out of food and instead of going to the store and throwing off my weekly shopping and coupons; I used the can of cat food.
This is how this helps you have No Spend Days and No Gas Days as well.
