I took a jeepney instead of a taxi to run an errand and saved about P123, which is about an 87% difference.
I also renewed my website host subscription a few weeks early and got an %18 discount for doing so.

1 Stayed home today, so no fuel spent
2 Restocked the woodbox and supply on the front porch with wood from the barn, so we can have a fire later and turn down the furnace
3 cooked supper in the crockpot saving using the stove
4 made supper with leftover beef found in freezer (chili)

Yesterday, instead of going to the mall, we went with our 2 1/2 year old and fed the ducks at a park and once it got dark, we went and drove through an awesome neighborhood and looked at some Christmas lights. One guy actually built a rollercoaster in his front yard with Santa and reindeer. Crazy...but really neat.

Got gas at sams club while in the states capital city. It is cheaper there than at any gas station in town.

Yesterday, I had a half of my cooked boneless chuck roast left over. The day I made the roast, I took almost 1/2 of it and shredded it and made another dish yesterday. It was delicious. I also used a portion of the original roast and cut it into sandwich sized slices for lunch. Sometimes, I can get an easy 3 to 4 meals from the roast, if I save some for vegetable beef soup. This is great when there is a good sale on that particular cut of beef.

By Halloween it was getting tougher and tougher to have a 'no spend' day. By mid November I decided to tackle this another way so that I didn't mess up financially. Since gas discounts & flyers distribute on Thursday making this my spend day was a no-brainer.
The unexpected benefits of this system has been to force me to be far more organized. I must follow the menu plan I made months ago to keep grocery shopping within it's budget and as fast and simple as possible. There is no time to browse in stores I must seek my target purchases and leave so no impulse stuff. The differences in both time and $$$ is astounding.
This not change my 'desk day' responsibilities as bills still must be paid on-line just before pay-days.

Baked a cake & some cupcakes. Cake mixes were on sale awhile back for 69 cents each and I had 50 cent off coupons, so these were 19 cent cupcakes and cake. Inexpensive snacks and deserts.

I had a GREAT almost no spend day Thur.
I had brought my lunch to work but a sales rep called at 11:30 and took me out to lunch. Ate prep lunch on Fri.
Bank I have an account at opened a new branch 10 min from my office & I was invited to the GRAND OPENING = buffet of finger food (hot & cold), nuts, desserts plus a full bar (1 wine + 2 sprite). Dinner for free w/ no cooking or clean up requires.
Bank is next county over. Gas taxes are less. Filled up for $0.05/gal less than my cheapest home/work station.

I changed our cell phone plan to a lower plan since all of our friends/family use the same company and it's free to call them. (Saved $20)
I also reduced our cable internet. We had the super high plan and I just reduced it to the basic. (Saved $10)
I work at a real estate firm and one of our agents just does real estate part time and has her own salon full time. Today she gave me a Christmas gift of a free hair cut and style. Woo! Getting my hair done on Monday!

Had a GREAT grocery shopping day on Sat.
My local Safeway affiliated store had published a new/transfer Rx coupon for a $30 gift card. They also had a couple deals I wanted (1.59/lb boneless pot roast [bone in had been $1.49 last week], 0.99 ground beef, Nabisco crackers (2/$3, most requiring a separate $10 purchase). Also found a 50% off steak. I had a cheap generic Rx due for renewal ($8 for 3 months). Took it in, was told 30 minutes. Went & picked out my purchases.
Go back to the pharmacy to be told, “you have had this filled here before & we cannot honor the coupon.” My response, “Per the bottle I am now I am transferring from XYZ and NOWHERE on the coupon does it say anything about not being good if you have filled this Rx in a specific amount of time. She did make good but it was another 20+ minutes to fill & check the Rx out. Then I get the $30 gift card and realize it is a gift card to buy a gift card. All in all, what should have been about 45 minutes took 1¼ hours to complete. However, that is still above my OT less taxes pay from real work.
Finally check out. Tape totaled $28.51 w/ tax. After store card, store coupons and mfg coupons I paid $14.12, all off the gift card. I still have >half the card left to spend. I did get a TON of meat; enough for about 16-20 servings. I did really need the hamburger & chuck. I was down to only 2 servings of hamburger and no chuck in the freezer.
Since this week's menu is already planned I will freeze the chuck & use some next week to make a pot of my mom's swiss steak.

Today I signed up for the Chase Rewards card. We're only going to use it for the purchases/bills we already pay *especially gas* and pay in full by the end of the month. Since we're already buying these things, might as well get the 3% back.

This wasn't today, but during last week's ice storm. Because we were without power on morning of day two we broke out the ice chest and instead of going to buy ice at 89 cents a bag I simply used those plastic shopping bags and doubled them and filled them w/icicles off of the side of the house and big chunks out of the outdoor furniture seats. This little trick saved me about 3 dollars and a trip to the store AND all of the meat in the freezer. All in all we were without power for 6 days. In the end only one package of burger didn't quite make it past Inspector Mom and I just browned it up and am feeding the dogs who think it's grand.
