It has been way too long since I have posted here! So busy! Today I ent to our local dump store and found a vintage rocking horse and 3 window boxes. Good so far but when I went to pay I found on top of the metal bin out back a very nice black metal compact computer desk! I hauled it down somehow and went and paid the $3 they asked for all items. Ahhhh, I just love that dump store! A perfect small sized computer table that would fit well into my daughter's small apartment, four nice shelves with room to house software and other computer related items! And the black metal goes perfect with her decor which is rather eclectic! Not even a scratch. Decided to sand and repaint the beautiful wood rocking horse which is very small, and use some of my art experience to paint back in the face and details. A nice item to put in some niche in the house.
Last week I found a wonderful wooden three legged stool, upholstered, in sweet condition. I will take the old fabric off and stuffing and replace. Just used only tailor tacks...$1! A vintage metal hamper with gorgeous painted magnolia's on it with a black background, love the punch work design on top and bottom. Pretty good shape, only touch ups here for $1.00.
Another great thing is FreeCycle. I received a used washing machine and a vake for my daughter's apartment. No more hauling out all the laundry she goes through, especially with a 17 month old! Gave her one of my wooden drying racks to put on her screen porch. This saves her $18 + a week plus extras like running blankets and such through once in a while. More importantly the time involved in hauling everything to the laundromat and waiting for all to be finished!

Ok, this may seem like old news.....I wanted a Dunkin Donuts Ice Hazelnut coffee really bad today. I hate to pay for even one of their small size, and I didn't feel like driving to get one. So, I used what was left in our coffee carafe from breakfast, added some ice, then poured in International Coffee's Hazelnut which is sweetened. Put the cover on my to-go cup and gave it a good shaking like they do at Dunkin Donuts. Wow! Was it delicous, especially on such a humid, hot day! Matter of fact, it was better because I didn't add so much ice that it delutes itself in 5 minutes. It was good to the last drop......and cheaper!

We went out for water ice after dinner. That's not frugal.
But on the way home, we stopped at a grocery store that is going out of business. We got several non-perishable items that we use a lot of and they were between 25 and 75% off. I think we may stop there again tomorrow for more. They really didn't have things marked well so we weren't totally sure what the discount was on different things until we got to the register. Now that we know, some of the items were really good buys and it would be worth picking up more at those prices.

Hit Walgreens today on the new ad/easy saver book
Bought Duracell batteries 8pk AA (which my digital camera eats like peanuts) on sale for $5.29 less a mfg couponm about to expire for $1.50, less the Aug easy saver coupon for $1=$2.79 out of pocket BUT I also got a check out coupon for $2 good until 8/12 on my next Walgreens purchase.
Note: Walgreens is currently running a P&G products deal: Buy $5 get a $2 coupon; Buy $10 get a $4 coupon.......up to $20 I think bt I prefer to buy in multiples of $5 for the $2 so it is easier to use on low spend weeks.

WE cooked a big old pork roast at a low temp in the oven, then put it on the grill to smoke it for several hours.
I got the roast on sale for $5 and it will be my husband's lunch for the entire week.

One word for you - RECHARGEABLES! My digital camera also uses AA batteries and I can't even guess how many hundreds of batteries I would have gone through over the past few years if I wasn't using rechargeables. A set of rechargeables is about $10 or so for 4. I've got 2 sets, so 8 total. I always have a pair in the camera and 3 pairs in the case charged and ready. Once a couple of pairs get used, I recharge them and just rotate through them. I'm sure I've saved hundreds compared to buying disposable batteries. Far better for the environment too.

I helped DW set up for our temple's rummage sale and found a couple of items that we needed, like a 2nd grill pan and a brand new, still sealed boxed set of note cards.
Also, I did one medical survey and 3 non-medical surveys online, earning $42.75 in the process.

Yesterday, I went to the mall to search for bargains. I found $27.99 towels marked down to $8.39 with 40% off = $5.04. These are oversized 34x64" towels. They will either wait on the shelf for us to use or become a gift for some one else. Also found a set of wine glasses on clearance at Dillards. Originally, $24.99 marked down 75% to $6.25- now an additional 30% off sooo- $4.37. It was the last set on the table- they had 7 glasses instead of six- so they just gave me the 7th for free!! I will put these away for my stepson (26 yo) who is starting to house hunt. It will either be a Christmas present or a house warming gift!

I went to CVS today to get their sale on AdvilPM. A 20 count box was 4.89 and you get 4.99 back to use on a future purchase. I had a $2 coupon and a $5 coupon from a prior purchase so I bought a box of Lipton tea that I needed to complete a rebate. So, all totalled I paid $0.38 for 20 Advils and 100 Liption teabags. I'll get $5 back for a future purchase at CVS and now I can mail my $5 rebate for Lipton tea. Not bad!
I also carpooled to CVS and the grocery store with my mom, saved some gas there too!
