This is a fun thread!

Hmm, my frugal thing today was making my own Sunday brunch instead of buying or ordering in. I'm starting to really enjoy preparing my own meals!

Help! I have always received "What frugal thing did you do today?" in my mailbox. Suddenly, I am getting none. I've checked my subsriptions and everything is in order. I don't get the Savings Advisor either! I miss getting everyone's frugal comments and of coarse, the savings advisor. I even emailed Jeffery but still nothing is amiss! Can anyone help me discover the problem. All you computer wizzes out there might have a solution!

It usually cuts the time down by 15 -20% and I can use the lower temperature setting.

My washer does the same thing....things seem too wet! I've been repeating the spin cycle also and I'm sure it saves on dryer time. I also have two clothes racks in our heated basement to hang loads. Really, the electricity bills are sky-high. I still shut the dishwasher off when the dry cycle comes on and open the door to air dry the dishes. I've switched to all cold washes for clothing and use a cold temperature laundry detergent. When I finish using the oven for baking I keep the door open to let the heat out into the room....why waste it?? I also keep the bedroom doors closed during the day. I don't spend time up there except at night mostly. That's it!

Today I used up some leftover pork that I (over)cooked on Sunday. DH and I barely gagged it down the first time, and couldn't imagine leftovers. LOL. I wanted to throw it out, but I hated the thought of wasting it.
So, I cut it up into small cubes and added it to fried rice...and it came out excellent!

There were microwave directions my big bag of rice (never noticed that before) so I probably saved some electricity there.

I also unplugged a TV, VCR and Playstation 2 that we rarely use in our den.

Hung clothes to dry inside. I used to do outside line drying all the time until one of my posts rusted in half at ground level! Arghhhh!! Still need to get that fixed. I've got one of those cool pull out lines for inside, but Hubster has failed to get it installed. Maybe SOON!!

Colored my hair at home.

Went and let FrugalSon shop w/a gift card that he'd gotten LAST YEAR - EGADS, I'd been carrying that thing in my wallet forever. He was working so much back then that we never could get to it! Thank goodness it hadn't expired because of my forgetfulness - it's frugal because if we'd only waited a bit longer it would have been toast and I would've felt compelled to replace it for him. It was a gift from our church.

I made dinner at home using pasta sauce I got on sale and with a coupon, and put sausage in it instead of ground beef because I got it on sale and with a coupon I didn't spend any money today, and deposited my challenge money in my emigrant account to start piling the interest!

Still making double recipes to have another meal during the week out of it. Why, oh why do I hate to cook so much! Found that there are two stores I can depend on to buy gallons of milk at 2.79 compaired to the big food stores that charge $3.40 and up! Some places are over $4.00!!!! Been skipping gym fees to walk outside when it's not too cold for 45 minutes. When the weather is bad I use my "Walking off the pounds" tapes I bought at Wal-Mart cheap. I love these tapes!

Had a huge take at a freecycle posting.....170 doll clothing patterns! When I was there the woman, God love her, gave me a huge Rubbermaid of trims and ribbon, and about 200 yards of different fabrics to boot! I am in hog heaven with lots of projects!

Thanks everybody.

I'm still digesting what has happened. It's been 6 years in the making, and I've had the usual detours courtesy of dental demands and such, but each month the totals have slowly gone down. My target date was April, but I had some unexpected cash in hand after running my budget numbers for Feb. So I paid off what was outstanding.

Incidentally, the last time I was debt-free was in 1979!!! Amazing.

Work within 2 miles of both my home and my parents home. Mom and dad are pretty much retired so they're always home during the day - so at lunch I always always always go home and eat with them.. maybe cucumbers or tomato soup & sandwich. I cringe at the thought of spending a fortune at lunchtime! Most of my co-workers spend 7 to 10 bucks a DAY on just lunch. I have no idea how they can stand it or do it!

Ditto!

Washed all the clothes from the day before and yesterday in one BIG load in an effort to save water, although I don't know that this will necessarily save me any money in the long run as I just have to run the dryer longer in order to dry all the stuff that doesn't seem to have rung out quite as dry as it normally does on the smaller load! BBBOOFFFFERDANGELE! It's too much laundry to hang inside, the clothesline pole outside is broken and there is snow and ice everywhere - so the dryer is almost a must right now. Pfffppppthhhtt!!! Besides which I don't like letting the laundry pile up...I walked past it all day today on the way to lose that 'weight challenge' water I'm drinking, anyway, I don't like the dirty clothes piling up and stinking the joint up! Nasty!! Will be saving more dollars for a low-flow toilet and perhaps more energy efficient washer/dryer in the future.
