We had another day of leftover tacos. I just broke up the tacos in bite-size pieces and used the left-over meat mixture, added diced tomatoes, onions, cheese, lettuce, taco sauce, salsa, and sour cream and we had a great salad. Also, added a side dish of yucca left over and also an Asian rice dish for whoever wanted what.

We used to have a Friday, where we ate the left-overs from the few days back. My kids loved it. There would be such a spread before them that they could choose from.

Yesterday I had a no spend and no drive day - mostly because of the weather. I also made a cake from scratch with buttermilk that was in my fridge that probably would have been thrown out. YUMM-O.

Today I ate leftovers for lunch instead of eating out.

Used the leftover canned milk I had from making potato soup and used it to add to the milk in my hotroll recipe. There's a cobbler in the crockpot cooking as we speak, rolls are rising and the meat is defrosting for dirty red beans and rice for supper.

Inexpensive, warm and filling! My crowd will like it.

I almost always split meals with my spouse. This frugality works especially well when eating at restaurants with HUGE portions, such as The Cheesecake Factory. One of us orders a soup or salad, the other orders a main dish, and we enjoy bread and butter for free! We used to always order our own meals and would find ourselves sick after dinner because of the size of the bill and the expanded size of our bellies! Now, our wallets are fatter while our waistlines are trimmer.

DD12 needs a "dress" coat for a function that she is attending at beginning of February (Her class is singing for the Governor General ). I asked around, and was able to borrow something that will look good, and I didn't even have to visit the consignment store! YAY!

I baked sourdough bread, seeded Italian and a pecan-raisin rye bread today. Timed it all out so that they were ready to bake at about the time one came out of the oven and went from highest temp to lowest, so I never had to turn off the oven or wait for it to pre-heat for each type I made. They turned out well. It was also a no spend and stay home day!!!

This weekend I made a large batch of ground turkey tacos and a chicken rice pot pie, so I shouldn't have to cook again until Wednesday.
Another no spend day.

Spent no money and borrowed a film from a friend instead of renting.

To S.Saver: Yes, I thaw the frozen broth first before putting it in the crock pot. I measure before freezing as well. Those cans of broth are very expensive and sometimes you need more than one.

Refilled my never ending soap dispenser w/water to keep it flowing smoothly. Opened the blinds to let a little sunshine in, plugged the microwave in, reheated last night's coffee (don't hate me because I'm not a coffee snob) in the microwave and then unplugged the microwave. Did my one small load of laundry in cold water w/ 1/8 cup of laundry soap. Ate two of yesterday's leftover hot rolls for breakfast. I had doubled the recipe which makes 3 13X9 pans and one 18x9 pan full. Folded the extra blanket we had thrown on top of the comforter instead of turning up the heat last night.

Ohhhh the agonies of a frugal lifestyle.

Bought non genuine ink cartridges for the printer today. There are 5 cartridges and we save 40% by buying the cheaper replacement cartridges.

How do you go with your printer inks?

We are snowed and iced in here so there is certainly not any gas money being spent trotting about - just stuck some countrystyle ribs $2.75 in the crockpot w/some liquid smoke .06, some spices .07 and a cheap bottle of bbq sauce that I paid 57 cents for back in July. Will add a salad and we have hot rolls, so an inexpensive (3.45ish) but filling dinner for four is on the way.

OK this one is not for most people. My husband got a deer. He and a bunch of friends did the basic cut up the next day. I foodsavered the steaks, roasts and scraps. Yesterday, I took out one lump of scraps and ground the scraps into "hamburger". We had swedish meatballs for supper and I froze two packages of supper sized swedish meatball meals.

The Budget man - where do you buy your ink? I have a Lexmark printer and the last time I bought off brand cartridges over the internet, I think I only saved about $3 per cartridge.

I had a workshop at the Board office today and I took my lunch. I did splurge on a 95˘ cup of green tea, though, to keep me warm!

I protested an overdraft. I have one account that is set up to do one bill because it can do automatic bill pay. I set up the automatic bill pay, then realized I didn't have enough in the account to pay it, so I cancelled it and paid the bill with a check from another bank. The web site didn't register that I cancelled it, so it paid it and debited my account, putting me over the limit and charging me $25. So, I protested and they gave me the $25 back.
