We've got those big-bulb vanity lights in all of our bathrooms (including 10 in our master bath). They are so bright that I have unscrewed every other one of them just enough so they don't come on when the light is turned on. It's still plenty bright in the bathrooms. When the current bulbs go out (haven't had to replace yet after 3 1/2 years!) I figure I'll just screw the others back in, thus essentially doubling the life of my bathroom lights and halving the cost.

We've got not just those big bathroom globe bulbs unscrewed but I also did that in our ceiling fans. Our house is small so all that light can get overpowering in smaller rooms.

Well, we just ate at the party last night and did not go out to eat dinner afterward, so we saved money.

Our garage door light stays on for 5 minutes after closing the door. When we come home I wait a few extra seconds until the door closes and turn the light off myself instead of letting the light burn electricity for 4 minutes while nobody's in the garage. I figure doing it an average of twice a day at 4 minutes/time will save 2,920 minutes of electricity cost per year.

Yesterday we used coupons to the movies that DH's employees had given him last year. The movie cost $1.00 for both of us!

We never know what to buy my mom for Chanukah, especially this year since she moved from a 3-bedroom home to a 1-bedroom apartment. But she loves to bake and is always sending us and others cookies, cakes, etc. So we packed a box with a 5-lb bag of sugar, a 5-lb bag of flour, a few containers of jimmies and other toppings, a couple of boxes of ziploc bags, some new plastic containers and a new rolling pin because the handle was coming off of hers.

The gift itself wasn't necessarily frugal in cost, but very practical and useful in purpose. Much better than giving her some little decorative item that she has no space or use for.

great gift!!! something pretty practical but that shows you were thinking of her when you put it together.

i find there are lots of options for bakers: cookie cutters, silpat sheets, silicon molds/spatulas, spritz cookie presses, cake decorating sets, 'gourmet' ingredients, mixes, magazine subscriptions, recipe books, etc... makes me wish there was a baker on my list, i love shopping for this stuff but currently can't use any of it myself!!

I am still using my free dishwasher gel. It has lasted 2 or 3 months. Only spent $2 on milk today. Feed my dog the leftovers from dinner last night.

This is a GREAT question, and one that we ask ourselves daily. We all should be consious in making at least one decision/action that is frugal each day.

Today my coffeepot broke so I dug out the camping percolator and will have "camping coffee" for a couple of weeks until my new one arrives. I purchases 1# of coffee and received a free coffee maker, 2 china mugs and a SS coffee scoop for $14.95 AND shipping was free! I plan on cancelling the ongoing monthly deliveries as soon as I receive my coffeemaker. (it was one that you had no further obgliation to purchase more coffee from them) I compared several stores available coffeemakers and unless I decided to spend $129.00 on one that had a 3 year warranty, all others had 6 months to 1 year. (the one that just boke lasted me 5 years, so I can't justify that much money for a 3 year warranty.

I also made my purchase on a site I belong to that gives you points for buying from certain comapnies (I got 500 points - usually is a point for each $ spent, used my CC card that the same website offers and will also earn 1 point per $1 spent) so all in all I saved over $70.00 than if I went to the local stores and purchased one!!
