Have you tried WalMart's Ol'Roy brand of kibbles'n Bits? I believe a 40 lb is only $14 normally Otherwise sometimes you can find a deal @ the farm & fleet store for 50lbs for $10 but my dog is picky & only likes kibbles'n bits & the alike

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Wasn't feeling well today and I went in to work anyways and toughed it out. I was seriously considering spending the $10 bill in my wallet on fast food after work but I talked myself out of it and made a simple dinner.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I've had no heat on today and a free lunch from work where I brought home a frozen desert & tortillas. I'll use the tortillas to make a wrap for lunch tomorrow...yummy. Just a side note-I have the heat off, but its a little chilly in the house. So I'm under a blanket & I lit a candle. The candle is emitting a good bit of heat, enough to feel comfy in the living room. I don't know if its more psychological than real, but hey, it works for me!

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Went to CPR class (paid for by work) and worked first shift. Was supposed to go out to lunch with afriend from first shift, but she had some car trouble and had to cancel. Since I planned on going out to lunch, I didn't bring anything to eat. Another co-worker said he had a can of clam chowder that I could have. I said no at first, then realized it would save me at least $5 that I would have to spend for take out, so I accepted.

Wow! Much better than I did.
Got $30 off my Amazon purchase by signing up for theirs. Pay it off, cancel the card, keep the cash!

Had an effortlessly frugal day!
No heat because we are having a heat wave in Mass (65º).
Leftovers for lunch.
For dinner I am having a fozen Kashi entree that I got for $1 using a coupon.
A no spend day!

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I drank coffee I made at home instead of stopping to buy a cup. Not only did I save $1.65 on the cup of coffee but I wasn't presented with the temptation to buy a pastry.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Went fishing with my wife and grandfather. It didn't turn out frugal in the sense of catching a meal, however, it was an enjoyable family outing and cost us very little.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Combined a trip to town (8 miles 1 way) with my DH. Hung up load of clothes instead of using the dryer. Baked 3 loaves of bread from scratch (est 79 cents each to make). Also called the phone company and dropped a calling plan that runs $7 a month. We can both make ld calls for free from our cell phone, and should we not have a cell signal, I think we could still call long distance briefly for less than that $7. I also got tired of paying the $7.50 a month service fee at the bank, so got info regarding getting a free checking account. I can't use the same account number I have now, which means I will have to change all the stuff that is directly deposited and withdrawn every month....but, $7.50 x 12 months.... also found some change in the parking lot at the store. Just for kicks, "found money" i have been saving in a jar, so far this year I have found over $10 laying on the ground. also won an auction on ebay--$22 for 10 pairs of school uniform pants for the twins --I can't even make them for $2 a piece.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I carried a liter bottle of water with me today (from the tap, of course) so I didn't buy an overpriced drink with my lunch today. Next time of course I will just pack my own sandwich

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I have been thinking of things to put in this post all day long!
Today I:
-cleaned out the garden and brought in 4 large beet with greens, a serving's worth of swiss chard, and a large bowl of broccoli. I put compost and leaves on the now defunct garden.
-took two pumpkins off our front steps and cooked them. I roasted the seeds for snacks and pureed the pumpkin for soup, muffins, pie, etc. I ended up with a large container in the fridge and three baggies in the freezer.
-made scratch pizza for dinner
-ate leftovers for lunch
-e-mailed two relatives and asked them what they wanted to do for a Christmas exchange, giving them the option of opting out. Both did. That will save us about $75 and a lot of hassle.
-Dh spent the afternoon chopping wood with my father and brother. We heat with wood all winter.
-Made homemade applesauce from a bag of apples that was given to us.
-Made homemade yogurt

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Just talked to my best friend about Christmas...we decided that the adults would not exchange Christmas gifts this year. We are spending enough money to see Wicked and going out to dinner together in January, so this will be our 'gift' to each other.
