No offense, Ima, but at 61 or 62 degrees, I don't blame him.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I line dried all of the laundry. Actually, the dryer stopped drying a couple of months ago, and I'm in no hurry to fix it. Our daughter is 16, and no matter what my husband and I said to her, she would run one small wash load and then practically BAKE her clothes in the dryer. I can't tell you how many times I turned the dryer off and removed extremely hot clothing! Not good for the clothes, or our bill.
Instead of running errands, I stayed home. When I go to work tomorrow I'll detour a little bit and get things done then. Any savings on gas is a good thing.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I sometimes hide things from the kids, and they don't get upset. DD can go through a whole box of cookies, crackers, etc. with no problem. If her little brother stands a chance of getting a treat in his lunch each day, I have to stash a few things. I buy two boxes of each thing (whatever's on sale or what I have coupons for) and she devours hers pretty quickly. His gets hidden to last through the week.
Hiding treats has nothing to do with who's good enough or deserves something special, at least in this house. There's plenty for all, but it must be shared fairly and sometimes a teen appetite wants to eat more, more, and more! Our 16 year old is 5'8 and weighs 115, so no weight problem there. Her dad and I, as well as her brother, are all blessed with a fast metabolism. I'm always willing to buy treats, as long as it doesn't go over our budget. Our son is really good about leaving something for the next person. Today there were four donuts, (mini size) and he left two for his dad. Now if we can just get DD to not leave a 1/2 inch of juice or soda in the bottle...

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I turned the heat down to 58 last night, back to 60 this morning. I also drove under the speed limit which saves on gasoline.

Lrt's see. The heat is set on 60 today. all the lights in the house are off, as are the tv's. I washed in only cold water today. The hot water heater is off as usual. I will have breakfast and lunch at home.

I drink water all day. I am making my own distilled water right now. The heat has not run all day, it is set at 60 degrees.

I went and helped my husband put down wire today for monday's concrete pour. That saved him from paying someone $18 an hour to help him.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
This week:
Did not go to McDonalds at WalMart even though I was starving.
Did not got o the coffee shop on my way home from work even though I wanted a white chocolate raspberry coffee.
Did not buy a cup of coffee at the gas station.
Washed laundry in cold water.
Turned off power strips-getting to be a habit! Not going to be able to do on weekends because everyone is home and everything is on.
We have also cut back on eating out.
Most of these things also happen because I am on Weight Watchers again-saving $ and calories.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
well I really shopped carefully for our dinner tomorrow night.(that is not like me, but I am getting better) I found 2 packs of cube steaks for $1 each. They are small but it might be enough for dh's lunch. I announced that it was my husband's birthday last night, so he got a free dessert. Of course all the lights are off, all tv's are off and it is 60 degrees. I have a coupon for a free terriaki sauce, so I got that. I don't know what I am going to do with it since I don't like it, but it was free.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Listed my home for sale on some sites and in the paper. I will try it myself for 30 days to save the commission. If that doesn't work, then I will go to a realtor.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I listed a home with a buyers realty. all they did was put in on the MLS service for a 1% fee.The 2nd person to look at it bought it, so I have 3 1/2 percent in commission that I saved.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Had left overs for lunch as much as I wanted a blimpie turkey sandwich, distilled my own water, kept the hot water heater off all day and the heat did not run.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I started a painting project (in reading this house to sell it). I will hire someone to finish the paint job, but I have at least gotten it started. I can't do it all myself, because part of it I can't reach, and also because I only have about 45 minutes of daylight left by the time I get off work. I need to get this done asap, for curb appeal.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I did a crazy clean out the fridge/cupboard deal where I funk out with a crockpot.
It will be a cubed pork, bulgur, sundried tomates, and stuffed green olives concoction. Pork left over from a discounted packet I had, some bulk bulgur that I hadn't used in a while, 99 cent 32 oz sundried tomato jar I've been working on for two years, green olives abandoned at a work potluck.
I make a fair amount of these freak dishes, and the good thing is that I almost always like them. My boyfriend is pleasantly surprised when he does. The last one, a unused almost rusting gift curry jar, some cleaning-out-the-freezer chicken, yams, rice and green beans made a fabulous almost legitimate tasting dish.
For lunch I had frozen leftover concoction: a meat muffin. Seventy five percent off last day ground turkey special, leftover homemade shake and bake-a bit stale, homemade breadcrumbs from bread ends, asian hoisin sauce - another gift, from an asian themed basket. I had no loaf pan, so used a muffin tin. Perfect for freezing for lunches.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Well I stayed home all day and spent no money! I sent a check with my husband to pay the grading guy, so I saved a 39 cent stamp.
