trying to train myself to heat my cup of hot water in the microwave. I used to turn the kettle on the stove whenever I wanted tea...... Just for one cup. Dumb. I remembered today, to put my mug in the micro......... I'm also leaving my mug & tea bag out during the day.....that just saves me time! It's been chilly in here & a hot cup of tea feels good!

Carpooled - in fact, I didn't drive to school at all today, which is a first for the entire year.

Yesterday we had leftovers. Have heat way down low. Hung clothes to air dry. Bought gas that was 10 cents per gallon off. Got gas for $2.06. Put an extra hundred on my car payment. All lights off. Took lunch to work. Went to the dollar store to get things I needed instead of going to a major store which is tempting to buy things I do not need.

I wanted to feel special enough for them, to this day I struggle with feeling food is some kind of magical treat for the special people, a class I often feel I do not belong to.

I know my mother did not mean that, but I also know I will never hide food from my children, I tell them they get less junk than I cause I am 6 ft tall, they are short, what is fine for me will make them sick (and I limit what I eat, cause I know they will one day be 6 ft tall!)

Please do not hide food from your children! It can't be worth the psych problems!

Yesterday, I stayed home all day, so I saved in gas by not going to town. Today, I am thawing out the free turkey that I got from Ingles. My husband is going to smoke it this weekend and use it for lunch all next week.

Michael knows I hide food from him-it is still his he just knows that he goes through it all too fast. He eats like a horse and is tall and lanky. He by no means goes hungry and he eats plenty of good and bad food.

I continue to stock up on sprite today, while it is still on sale. I bought cheaper dogfood for the outside dog, she will usually eat anything. I am having my husband's leftovers from supper, for lunch.

But Princess - did they share with you?

That's the thing. I won't not share, but I'll dole it out. If I eat it, they'll eat some (unless it's a midnight snack thing). But I remember being a teen, if I had unlimited access to it, I'd eat it all (we're talking whole boxes of little debbies). My mom stopped buying all together but occasionally dad would stop for a treat and he'd buy me one or two, he'd leave one for me either in or on the cabinet and he'd keep whatever else he bought (I really don't know how many he bought) and then the next day he'd leave the other one.

I guess part of it was that I didn't know for sure he was buying more and was just hiding the rest. But I think it was because he did share with me, he just didn't share all at once.

I hope my kids will have more self control than I did (I'm sooo lucky my metabolism was so fast in HS), but if they don't, I'll do what my dad did.

Not me, but DH. He researched the cellphone policy at his office and found out that we are eligible to receive a discount on my cellphone - about $5/month. Then he decided to give up his personal cellphone and just get another phone on my account (most of our minutes are to each other and we have no landline). The 2 together should save about $15/month (and still be cheaper than any phone bill we would have if we had a landline with all of our family living long distance).

washed out bread bags and zippered sandwich bags and hung them to dry on the curtains with clothes pins... they are great for the freezer.. we use alum foil, then double bag our food.. even the ice cream gets foil over it after it is opened, then double bagged...

I found an old coat that I gave my husband for christmas about 20 years ago. I washed it all up and it looks great. He has lost 30 pounds so it fits him again and he was looking for a new coat.

I would say no they didn't share, but then I find that hard to believe.. ...
doling out is helping with self control, different from hiding really.

Stayed home, spent no money, kept turning off lights and radio behind husband. Trying to teach him to be a bit more thrifty. He calls me cheap!

Ate leftovers for lunch and dinner (cleaning out the fridge) - plus already lacked my lunch for tomorrow.
Set the dryer for less time again. Reused a dryer sheet. Dry cleaned some wool sweaters at home with my Dryel kit.
Finished the taxes - I want my money!
