Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I started shutting the PC down more. I typically use it the mornings and then again in the evenings, leaving it off during the middle part of the day and later at night. Fomerly, I would leave it on from morning to bedtime and just put it in 'sleep' mode in-between use.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I hit the bakery thrift store, bought 4 loaves of bread, 3 pks hamburger buns, 3 pks hotdog buns, 2 boxes of snack cakes. Spent $9. More than half of it went into the freezer and I won't have to go back for at least a month.

I went for a walk around my neighborhood and I found a penny. I picked it up and added it to my coin jar. It all adds up!

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Spent nothing, walked to and form work, cooked scratch meals, ate leftovers, and it was all good.

Packing for a family trip. Taking our own drinks and snacks. No fast food on the way! Checking out dvds and books on tape at the Library. Checking on the cheapest gas on our route. Planning saves money

Excellent idea. We always spent more on trips than intended, so we started taking a cooler with food and drinks with us. Also, if I am traveling alone, I like to check out audio-books from the library to listen to while driving.
I hadn't thought about checking for cheap gas along the route; good idea. Gas at major exits usually is high. I know the BP at the exit closest to my house usually runs around 10 cents a gallon more than another BP station in town.

How do you check on gas prices? Is there a site?

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I ate leftovers for lunch and kept the airconditioner off until my husband came home from work. Bought a couple of hair items I needed on sale.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I used my reward card at Duane Reade and purchased Listerine 1 liter for $3.99 and colgate total 7.8oz with free toothbrush for$2.77 . I had coupons for $1.00 off of each ($3.00) and I just mailed in the $3.00 rebate offer.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
For rob---
gasbuddy.com to get and report gasoline prices in the US and Canada.
But search for locally administered sites, too. In my city a big radio station maintains a gas prices site.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
My daughter's laptop needed antivirus software...so went to buy.com and bought the Norton Antivirus 2006 (3-user pack) for $67 with free shipping. There's a $67 rebate for this item...final cost = $0.00.
My PC at home has antivirus software about to expire (next month?), so I'll be able to use the new software for that computer also...

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Read about some really cool sites to save money! Froogle.com. Bigwords.com (used and new textbooks, school supplies, books, dvds, music and games). Under school supplies found a 500 ream pack of computer paper for $3.49 at Office Depot! Also recommended in my reading was half.com
Off the TV I found two websites for older women; agingwithdignity.com and knowmenopause.com
Hope these were helpful.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Today we had a great day out with our adult children.
We met in a park in the city where they live and had a picnic. We all brought something to share and just sat around and enjoyed each other's company.
The travel costs were the biggest expense 4hrs return, but then tomorrow I have 5 hours on the road so I can't complain.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I talked my son into going to a friend's pool instead of driving out to the lake-saved on gas.
