Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
we stayed home, and made our own iced coffee again... saving both gas money, and money on buying a coffee drink

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I bought my DH his favorite ice cream for $6 for a half gallon
{see Ray FAINT}....but I know it will make him very happy tonight....
Today was his first day back at work after vacation....and you know how that goes if you manage folks or run a department (he does both)...
$6 may be alot for ice cream...but it is a small price to pay to make his day.
Sometimes ice cream is the best therapy after a long, hot day!

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Ya know, Ray, $6 isn't bad for a treat.
If it was a routine, every grocery run, then maybe it would be high, but hey, to treat a man you love once in a while? Not bad, not bad for $6.
Today I tidied the fridge and rescued a tub of peaches and a tub of yogurt that slipped towards the back-snmoothies tomorrow for breakfast.

Coming from you, I feel much better....you reside on the frugal pedestal with me and your validation of the treat makes it ok....

Ray - you saved enough on your trip to get him this little pick me up "back to work blues" treat!

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I left for work early today so I could skip sitting in traffic and wasting gas...
But there was an accident so I had to sit and waste gas anyways.
Its the thought that counts, right?
Ill try again tomorrow.

I turned off the car when I go to the drive in window at the bank. No air or heat is running here either.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Ray-I'm sure you made his day. Awesome!
I went to the Bread Thrift Store. The deals are not what they have been, but a really good loaf for 92 cents each is acceptable.
Maybe next time I'll get luckier.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Our local baker sells bread for 73c US a loaf. The cheapest at the supermarket is 1.11c and the price just goes up. The frugal thing I did today was walk to the local shops with my kids instead of drive. My son practiced his roller blading while dh rode her scooter.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I am right along a lot of you on here, I hung my laundry on the clothes line outside. Even in the winter I hang my clothes (but on hangers in my basement).
I also went through my cookbooks to make a menu for the next 2 weeks and made a list of what we needed to make those meals and cut which ones would cost too much money.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Instead of stopping at the gas station and buying my normal $1.19 Mtn. Dew, I drank the rest from yesterday that I put in the fridge.
Now, if I could just stop that habbit of buying softdrinks almost everyday. :-/

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I don't drink softdrinks at all, except at night when i make a mixed drink. I drink water all day long. I got two free cases of water last week, so i am drinking that. I stayed home all day yesterday and did not spend a dime.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
The inlaws went on vacation today, and they're practically air conditioning freaks, and refuse to even try ceiling fans. Well, as soon as they left, I turned off the air, and then got a little curious about the ceiling fans in the living room and kitchen. My suspicion was correct. They were switched to the winter setting, so that's why they never "worked" properly. I fixed that and now it feels just lovely in the house, and we're not using the air conditioning. Hmm, wonder what else I can do while they're gone... hehe. I already washed the dishes and majorly cleaned the dish area. We have a bad ant problem, which I believe is caused because the inlaws never clean up crumbs after themselves or even close bags of things when they're done with them. I think it's just laziness, but they say they're simply too tired after work to do it. Too tired to fold over a bag? I think not. I cannot stand nastiness, and that's why I'm constantly cleaning like crazy. We bought ant baits but as long as they continue to leave messes like that, we're gonna always have ants. (I might add that my father is an exterminator, so that's why I know a lot about bugs and such, ). I'm definitely gonna do some serious cleaning today and see what I can do to combat these issues. Even if they didn't care about the ants and wasting money on baits, we're also wasting money because food spoils when it's left opened all night long.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Well I am washing clothes in cold, the dishwasher is running, but no heat cycle is on. Hubby's lunch is leftovers. Doggie is enjoying free bags of dog food. No a/c on yet, it is 72 in the house today.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I perused sale ads and printed off some corresponding coupons...
I am going to the store this afternoon and want to make the most of the budget!
Hanging laundry on line...
and have planned chicken for dinner.
I opened DH an ING account today and have received my $10 bonus and he will get a $25 bonus...once his account is finalized, I will open him a Roth IRA at ING
If I have time this afternoon I want to open a few more trial offers to get some more GCs.
 Pleased with the progress!

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I had to go to the post office to ship a book that sold, so I took along some mystery stamps that just said First Class on them............ Almost forgot to ask about them, but fortunately, the clerk reminded me by asking, Need anything else??? (and, to my amazement, our post office now sells Teddy Bears!...... When did they start that??)
Anyway, these stamps had come in from one of the storage unit auctions, already adhered to pre addressed envelopes. I had dampened them, removed them, pressed them and dried them........... And, now I found out they are all .37 cents. So, I picked up the 2 cent-ers and I'm good to go for postage for a long time here.
Proving I will go a long ways to save money here!!!
