I've been taking advantage of various $5. off coupons from places such as Home Depot, CVS, Walgreens, and grocery stores. I used the coupons for items that I was going to buy anyway.

Someone left a $10 coupon grocery coupon off of $50. on the counter. That was a great savings for me. It just went into my challenge fund along with $10.35 in manufacture coupons.

Default Cycling and scootering to work

Totally agree that it kills three birds with one stone.

I love cycling to work to beat the traffic jams.

It's also a great way to meet fellow colleagues who do the same.

I have saved so much money since i started cycling to work.

Getting started is the hardest part, but once you get going it's awesome.

Also thinking about scootering to work too. Using a manual scooter, that is.

Has anyone had any experiences with scootering to work?

Yes, I stayed home watching TV and reading books. We ate leftovers and didn't use the car. What a frugal, green day!

Today I had fun budgeting my monthly work-study check (how nerdy does that sound? haha).

-I saved some in my specifically defined ING accounts.
-I set aside 5% for my emergency fund.
-I contributed some to my Roth.
-I left some in checking to pay for the bills.
-And I budgeted out about 15% to do whatever the heck I want with!

So not a frugal act, technically, but one that inches me closer to financial independence!

Made pot of homemade potato soup for lunch. YUMMERS.

Yesterday I hosted a children's clothing swap. Several mom's dropped off clothes and earned points that were used to "buy" clothes at the swap. Unfortunately for me, my kids were at the top end of the sizes so I only got 3 pieces. But other moms walked out with HUGE bags filled with clothes for their kids. Total cost = $0! The remaining items will be donated to charity.

Stayed home. Spent no money.

Refilled my honey bear from larger bulk honey tub.

Sanded on my chest of drawers I'm refinishing myself rather than paying someone else to do it.

Hubster is installing the crown molding in our living room rather than hiring someone else.

Had leftovers for lunch.

We'll be eating in tonight - Chicken wraps & a bowl of soup.

Hubster did go to town today to buy nails - he bought single nails instead of buying a whole package that we'd later have to store. IOW, bought only exactly what he needed to finish the job. We're on a downsizing battle, and the less we have, the less house we'll need to cover it all.

I have not posted here in quite a while but have NOT given up my frugal ways.

I constantly compare gas prices at my multiple/pass regularly gas stations near both home & work. Also know if I am going to one of my DD's gas is usually cheaper due to lower sales taxes. Plan/Fill accordingly.

I KNOW which stores discount last sell date meat/bakery/prooduce on a somewhat routine basis and try to hit them those days.

this week:
Bought country ribs at a store near DD1 at 0.79/lb-best sale $$ seen this year has been 1.29
Bought cple pkg of chk leg quarters (already have cple in freezer) at fav fruit/veg market that just added a meat counter for 0.39/lb-best price in last 6ish months has been 0.59/lb.
Had a taste for loaded nachos on Friday. Had a Taco Bell coupon for 1.99 + 10.25% tax. Had No nacho/corn chips on hand (would have been $1 for 10-12 oz depending on where bought). However, I already did have corn tortilas, browned ground meat, salsa, cumin, grated cheddar, cilantro, sour cream on hand. I made my own and estimate a 1.28 savings PLUS lower salt, fat and better portion control. Also, did not spend out of my fun $$.

Dinners this week will be 2x ribs, 2x chicken, a veggie dish, egg salad (taste again) and tuna salad (all stuff for egg, veg & tuna on hand).

Had leftover tomato soup w/crackers & iced tea (home-made, not out of a can or bottle) for lunch today.

Circled back about three blocks and paid 2.09 for gas rather than 2.35 up by the freeway for our fill-up, saving 26 cents a gallon. I was in a strange town w/no internet connection or I would've done gasbuddy.com.
