Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Got lunch for free today, plus free tomatoes plants. I bought milk at half price. I did pass up the free cake cause I had home made ice cream last night, with my free dinner. I talked the wife of the CEO of the bank about turning off her hot water heater all the time to save money.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
A huge garage sales spree......five nice Christmas/B-day/Mom's day presents, two items of clothing, a crockpot, 2 books, bath beads, book light, all for $9. Plus good company, good walking, for free.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Well, I stayed home all day and didn't spend a dime. My husband went to work, so that will increase the paycheck tomorrow. Didn't use any gas either.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
I ordered a crop pants outfit to wear to a party last week. The pants were too long, so I sent the outfit back and didn't reorder!

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
My boyfriend and I washed and waxed the new car.
This is the new car... since I am paying for it and I will have it for a long time, I 'm going to take care of it!
Does that count as exercise too? my arms are sore from all the rubbing!

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Today I left the car parked and walked to work. A brisk 30-minute commute on a beautiful spring day, and I arrived feeling alert and energized!
I'm trying to avoid driving as much as possible now that the weather has improved. Happily, I live within four miles of my my office, a grocery store, the library branch, and a Dollar Store. I filled the tank on May 1st, and my goal is to get through the whole month without buying more gas. Most of my driving is short distance, and I can burn a lot of fuel, even when I bunch my errands.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Didn't go anywhere..
ate all meals at home...
hung laundry...
However, my frugalness today is offset by DH and DD3's day out together.
But that's quite alright....I know they are enjoying themselves!

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
TODAY I vamped up my resources mentally -- been reading the Yankee book about living well on a Shoestring. Lots of great ideas. TODAY I also salvaged a salad dressing bottle for a nice bud vase -- cant wait to surprise my SO with a lovely bud on his bday since I found a florist selling individual blooms in the square here where I live.
My SO is in culinary, so while we like to be frugal we also like to eat well. That is one of our quality of life things, eating healthy foods.
Frugal things this week: Used a master shopping list and went through what recipes we wanted to make for a master menu, highlighted what we needed on the list, got nearly all of it at Aldis at discount. Braekfasts here are nearly always smoothies for him and eggs of some kind for me. We planned dinners that stretch well: lasagne, chili, stew, eggplant casserole,.. lunches mainly of spinach salads, grilled cheese, soups, tuna egg salad, etc.
We then made beef stew from farmers market ingredients, which stretches amazingly well with any starch.
We also made homemade applesauce from a $2 bag of seconds apples from a farmers market grower-- about 6 lbs of apples of various types! We still have a ton, and the applesauce is delicious, without any wierd high fructose corn syrup added, just some cinnamon!
Ok, that was way too much. Im just so excited to finally find a community where people understand these things as worthy enterprise, where $2 for a 4 month supply of applesauce makes someone smile besides just me! Its a Victory in the war on Excess!
Or uhm... something. Nevermind.

Boy, that applesauce sounds yummy!! I wish i like cooking better, that is my one big downfall. Well, we went out to dinner last night, but only spent $12 for the two meals. We take our own mixed drinks. (dry county)

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
DH and I decided to stay homethis weekend rather than go camping....we need to catch up anyways before our vacation and it will save us the gas money (about $50) that we would have spent getting there.
All meals at home yesterday.
Hanging laundry today.

Re: What frugal thing did you do today?
Yesterday, I turned off the computer and we spent the day together.
We had thought about using a promotion to attend an Indians game, but we checked our Entertainment guide and found buy one get one tickets to a Minor Leage Class A team -- The Captains -- affiliated with the Indians.
Minor league games -- as well as AHL hockey games versus NHL -- have perks: 1) Cheaper Admission 2) better seating/views 3) Lots of promotions and freebies and interactive contests at each game.
We had a good time, each person in attendance won a free white castle burger when the pitcher struck out a particular player, and we were practically sitting in the dugout! It was fun. And we get a bonus at White Castle next time we see one
