Default 7 Spending-Free Days

I found this article rather funny, and it reminded me of this thread. Anyone think you could take on his challenge successfully?

Took the air conditioner out of the window, and put all of the storm windows down to keep out the chilly Wisconsin air.

Next will be plastic over the windows.

I decided NOT to buy cat litter. I was in front of a pet supply store and decided not to go inside, and that my current alternative is better:

wastn't today, but yesterday. i got a free nonworking chest deepfreezer off of craigs list. i am going to put it into our barn and start storing feed it in.
whats frugal about that???
the fact it will stop the racoons, birds, snakes, mice and all from eating 1/2 of the feed. will probably save about $25 a month by critter proofing (or more)

I brought in food to work instead of eating at a local restaurant or fast food joint. Save some money by making it before hand and taking my lunch to work

I bought gas for the first time since 10/9 when I paid $3:19. Today was $1.89. The bad part was then my car wouldn't start. I have AAA so there wasn't any cost. While sitting there waiting 45 minutes on a wrecker they lowered the price 2 cents. I went into a store to buy a pair of shoes. The ones I had on I havn't replaced in over 6 years. They had a place to denote coats which I had been looking for I had two in my car I wanted to denote so I felt good about that then I came out and my car wouldn't start again. I called a church member who came and started my car then came to the house with a battery charger cleaned a line and tighted a loose line. I don't know if I saved or not.

Only making 1 trip to the city today--library class was at 3, girl scouts is here at 7. I can't see wasting the fuel for a 21 mile one way trip back home, so we are hanging at the library from 4-6, then to the store to pick up DD3 girl scout books that I ordered (could not find used ones), then on to scouts. I brought snacks.

Yesterday made a few calls, got dish network $10/ month reduction, got $12/month reduction on cell phone bill and a free car charger (I threatened to switch carriers even though I was not going to), I also got a Visa CC rate reduced from %5.9 to 4.9. I use this card occasionally for small purchases; just want to keep the large credit line open for FICO purposes more than anything (wife recently had a CC line closed due to inactivity, her FICO took a small hit).

I was unsuccessful on a couple of other things, but for 30 minutes worth of phone calls, I'm pretty happy with the results.

Ate leftovers today.

Since DD1 is now off our cell plan, I downsized the plan for DH and myself. The bill will now only be $65 a month instead of $150. We carried her on it while she was in college and getting settled in after she graduated. (It also was sort of a safety net for us-we could keep tabs on her!!!). Of course with a 21 year old, we had all the text, internet, insurance, fancy phone...but, really cheap for us, since she went to school on full scholarship, paying just her cell was not a bad deal.

After the holidays, I will probably scale us down to the cheapest plan, but figured we may be talking more over Christmas.
