Default ATM's

A recent survy shows that 89 percent of banks now charge a fee for Atm's. Do you use them?

I use them but avoid the nickel and dime fees by withdrawing the maximum amount of cash allowed withdrawn at one time..$400.

I try to group transactions together as well

I'm with you, Priceplus! We only use our banks ATMs. We get charged between 1.00-2.50 for using it elsewhere...

The money I put in my checking account is only for writing checks. I keep everything else at home in the envelopes.

I don't usually use them. Sometimes I do to make a deposit into checking but it's always the banks atm. Though it's no charge to do any transaction EXCEPT a al inq is .25!

I hate to sound like a banker because I was one . But the banks justify the cost because everything costs $, the elec to keep the atm powered, the labor cost to have someone refill it & balance it, the cost of the $ (yes there is a cost the reserve charges the banks to even get the $!!), the cost of the deposit envelopes, the book keeper, and the ATM processor. They'd rather charge a non-customer than a customer the fee's.

We made sure we got a no-fee chequing account with a major bank, so that we'd always have one of their ATM's nearby.

Haven't used an ATM in years. Now I just use my debit card when buying groceries and get cash back. No fees!

I rarely use cash. Credit cards are taken everywhere - and I get cashback for it. I'll withdraw $50-80 every month or two and use it for whatever we need cash for (I can't think of anything off the top of my head, dh uses it now and again when he's making a quick stop that'll be less than $5).

I use a mix of point of sale places - grocery stores especially - and my own home bank ATM. Sometimes a credit union ATM is free, also, but I haven't used that in a couple of years. I usually get caught once a year paying an ATM fee or two.

ditto If I run into a situation where I forgot at the grocery store, I just do without for a week. (we go to the grocery store every week)

I pay cash for everything. Big items I charge and then pay off in full every month. I have never used an ATM in my entire life and neither has my husband. I don't even know how to take a cash advance on my credit card.

We have minimal ATM fees. We use our credit card for most purchases. If we can't use a credit card we use cash. Using a debit card incurs fees. (This is in New Zealand) No fees for Credit Card use. When we use an ATM we make sure it is with our bank and there are no fees. There is about a 40 cent fee for using other bank ATMs.

I have a NetBank checking account and they don't charge ATM fees. If I use one of their network ATMs then I pay no fees at all but if I'm in a hurry, I can use a Publix ATM and they only charge $1. I rarely carry a lot of cash anyway, I prefer to pay with my ATM card.

We use atm and don't worry about the charge because our bank gives us back the fees at the end of the month.

I use Bank of America and have several ATM/ branches right around me so I don't really have the need to go to another atm machine. Hubby's office has a BOA ATM in his office building.

I'm like ImaSaver............I've never used one of these either, never had one to use. Don't have a debit card or whatever they are called.
I prefer to use cash, or pay by check if I need a record of a purchase. This does require a bit of planning, but my life is usually planned out to the last detail, due to my autistic kiddo I take care of.
I was organized & on schedule before him.............but now, errands & such are orchestrated. So, there won't be any forgetting to go to the bank!!
