free products to replace the "I did not like or problem ones."and the bad products.
I have found that if a product does not meet your satisfaction that I will either call the 1-800 number or write them. I had a piece of plastic in a loaf of orowheat bread one time and mailed the piece of bread in and they shipped me two boxes of their products free and had a rep come by and apologize.
I had a container of milk go sour before the expiration from producers and they had a box of dairy products delivered to my door at no cost with an apology.
As a kid a bottle cap was found still in a sealed bottle of soda and the soda company gave two cases of soda for it back.
bad tasting cereal from general mills they send you two coupons for free boxes of cereal and apologize.
kelloggs sends nothing.. I no longer purchase their cereal since I got a stale box and was told it was the stores fault.. so don't buy this brand.. they do not back their product.
otis spudm.. muffins and products.. I got ants sealed in the wrapper and sent it to them ... no reply and called and they did not care... beware of this company too..
any other company pros/cons/warnings?

I am on a low carb diet and I buy Hood's low carb chocolate milk. It is usually good, but once I got a carton that tasted like chocolate water. I wrote to them and told them. I got a coupon back for 2 chocolate milks worth $7 plus an apology letter. It is tasted fine since then.

There's a company called Tiny Love that makes baby products. We had their Symphony in Motion mobile. 6 months after buying it, we accidentally broke it -- our fault. We called the company to ask if we could purchase the main rotating part since we busted it. They sent us a new piece for free -- no questions asked.
Later we saw them at a booth at a baby show and complimented them on their great service. The salesman gave us more free merchandise! We tried to decline, but he insisted and thanked us for being a loyal customer. Now that is service.

I recently purchased Land o Lakes eggs in their new clear plastic carton. When got them home and opened them, the container folded and some of the eggs broke. I emailed them, they apologized, sent TWO coupons for free eggs, and four other coupons, as well as a nice letter.

I've had great luck getting freebies, but the letters are often rediculous.
Me: Peanut flour is the last ingredient in your cookies. Lots of kids have peanuts allergies, you should change your recipe.
Pillsbury: We list all of the ingredients used and bold the common allergens . . .
I get responses like that all of the time. I wonder if they even read the comments, but at least they usually send freebies . . .

I had a dull razor blade in a pack of Venus blades. I emailed Gilette and got a ten dollar coupon and a very nice email in response.

Along theselines...
I have been using John Frieda's Brilliant Brunette conditioner. It says with continued use my hair will be softer and shinier (I'm paraphrasing here). Well, I've used most of it, and my hair is most assuredly neither of those things. Dove conditioner leaves my hair feeling softer after just one use!
Think it's worth pursuing? I may write an email to the company, just to see what happens.

Re: free products to replace the "I did not like or problem ones."and the bad products.
I used to write to food companies, mostly cereal companies and Ring Dings, when i was a 10 year old. I learned that you could get stuff for free, but a few times the company caught me asking for a refund more than once!
Here's a story: I once ordered 2 bottles of vitamins thru the mail. (Can't remember the company.) When they arrived and i opened up the first bottle, i saw that the paper seal on the top was broken! I wondered if a machine part of an assembly line somehow did that, or even if someone tampered with the vitamins, making them unsafe to consume.
I opened up the 2nd bottle, and same thing! Quite indignantly, i called the company and explained what happened. She took down the product UPC numbers and told me i coudl get a refund, but that was it; she didn't even want the bottles back. I would think this was a pretty serious quality control issue, but she didn't seem concerned. oh well.

Product ingredients are required to be listed in the order of quantity, so they could only put the peanut flour at the top of the list if that was the ingredient that existed in the highest quantity.

FYI, a new U.S. law went into effect requiring better labeling of foods that can trigger allergic reactions.

I agree there! I use red, and it's not and it didn't. Dove, wow, despite my recent journaled complaints on it taking out the color, the hair feels great!
I DID email Dove and raved about their shampoos and deodorants. Got back an email about where I could find it locally. BOO. Was not even nice!

I'll track down the customer service email for John Frieda and write them a note. If I hear back, I'll report back here.

Re: free products to replace the "I did not like or problem ones."and the bad products.
i mailed in a upc from flinstone vitamins and explained how i have children and food was more important than the vitamin itself so my kids could not get the vitamins they needed all the time. they sent me back a pack with 7 coupons for free bottles. all i paid was the tax. i also mailed jiffy to tell them all i was finding in the store here was corn bread mix. they sent me four cake mixes and lots of 10 and 20 cent coupons and told me a date was set for a rep to visit our stores. enfamil also offers four products now and again for all those point tabs off thier cans. i got a blanket for 1,00 sh/ it was a gr8 item, worth prolly 40. excuse my typing its getting late, i hope you all speak typoneese.lol

Re: free products to replace the "I did not like or problem ones."and the bad products.
Interesting thread...I've written a few complaint letters and received coupons or freebies:
Pampers - found a splinter of wood in a Newborn diaper (just under the plastic and luckily before we put in on our daughter). We received a coupon booklet with coupons for free and discounted merchandise.
Ecco Domani - opened a bottle of red wine and it was nasty. air must have gotten inside and spoiled it. They sent me a coupon for a free replacement bottle.
Gillette - a Mach 3 razor blade was faulty and one of the blades stuck out so that if I didn't notice I would have sliced my face open. They sent a 4-pk replacement.

Re: free products to replace the "I did not like or problem ones."and the bad products.
I found live maggots in a Ho-Ho when I was a kid. Thankfully I used to pick them apart before eating them, so I found them before I ate them (imagine finding half a maggot??? Ewwwww). My mom sent it in a baggie to the company and got a bunch of coupons and a letter of apology. Didn't cut it for me though...to this day I still don't eat Hostess products.

Had a pair of Timberland boots and the soles started to fall apart. I sent them back in with a call tag and recieved a brand new pair!
My buddy's wife bought him a used LL Bean Jacket at a thrift shop. He had problems with the zipper and sent it back to them. He got a brand new jacket back from them.
