They leak, no matter what I do, they leak!
I have chinese pre folds, and some snap over covers, the covers sometimes work, but not often. I started pinning the diaper before putting the cover on wich seems to help a little, but not much. |

Congrats on the new baby!
Newborns have skinny thighs and you won't find anything to really close around the leg until they gain more fat, especially with the runny stuff that breastfed babies produce, lol. Until then try these hemp liners. |

Thanks for the link, and advice.
I started wrapping him tighter, like a present, and using pins, it seems to make a huge difference. but still not perfect. I might need practice! |

I used wraps with elastic legs and didn't try to put the diaper on him like a diaper.
I folded the cloth diaper until it looked kind of like a maxi pad and stuck that in the cover. That way, the legs were able to fit right up against their legs and there wasn't a diaper pushing them away. |

Heh, that is funny, use a diaper NOT like a diaper

I know. When we first did it that way it felt soooo wrong, but it really worked. A friend showed me that way because she had the little snap in inserts for fuzzybuns (or something like that) and that's the way they work.
We rarely had any leaks. At least with DS1. With DS2, the kid only pooped once/week (common with breastfed babies) so when he did poop, it didn't matter what kind of diaper he wore. He was covered from head to toe in poop (literally). If he pooped when we were out, we just went home and into a bath, there was no way to clean him otherwise. |

When my kids were little we used Kooshie cloth diapers. They were expensive, but worked great. We rarely had leaks. I used them for all three of my kids...best of all, they once frayed around the legs and Sears replaced them for free!
I can't imagine how much money we saved over the 8 years we had little ones in diapers! |

You could try pting him, if you are going to have wet clothes you might as well get some practice on a potty inbetween!

Yeah, I'm hoping we're close to potty training. I don't really think he's ready, though. He was interested for a while and was using the potty in the evenings before bed, but now he doesn't even want to sit there. I'm tired of spending money on diapers, but frankly, I'm not looking forward to potty training. Maybe I'M not ready, either.

Go buy some of those plastic training pants (they look like underwear, but are plastic outside and padded inside). Line them with a diaper liner (Gerber makes good ones for this) and have at it. When he poops - throw away the liner (which will hopefully have all the poop in it) turn the pant inside out and wash it.
He may still be a bit young to potty train. If he isn't aware of his body's cues to need to potty, he won't be successful. What you can do to help make him aware is to watch for sounds, facial expressions, etc that he might make and then comment on them to him. I know for the longest time, my boys didn't even stop moving as they were pooping or peeing, so there wasn't a specific cue. But about 2.5 that cue started coming and they were able to use the potty some, but weren't fully trained until about 3. |

Great points, Cercis! I have a number of friends who 'potty trained' their kids, when really they were the ones who were trained.
We waited until our kids were ready and all three of them were using the toilet within the day. It was just their time! |

I am one of those where I was more trained than my kid, I would rather be trained to point a kid to a potty than trained to change a diaper, but that is me. It is all how you look at it, and pting is definatly more than just your kid being ready, parents have to be too.
