Default Do you glue plates back together?

Do you glue porcelain plates back together after they were broken?

If you do, what kind of glue do you use?

I toss them. They never look right. That has been my experience!

I wouldn't think that it would be safe to eat off them after that. The chance of a chip or something.

Also, I'd be a little wary of the glue contaminating the food.

Also, and not to beat this topic to death, but once you have a chip or crack it can be incredibly difficult to clean the plate. Food safety experts say NEVER use a plate that has a crack since that crack harbors bacteria.

Myself, if it was a nice set (wedding china or something like that) and just a small break (rather than the whole plate/cup breaking in half), I would probably just glue it A craft store might have recommendations as to what brand . . .

I toss them as well. Not worth the savings if my health is compromised.

True. In South Africa, however, you throw NOTHING away. You make the best of what you have and, if you have the glue, you use it to repair the plate.

God bless America where you have such an option!
