Default Long Johns :)

Or long underwear, or thermal wear, etc. My pair is getting threadbare, and are less than a year old with minimal use (Think Texas weather.) I'd like to know where I could get another pair that would last longer.

I'm looking for brand names, store names -online or offline. And of course, I'm looking for where I can get the best quality for the least money.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!

Keeping It Frugal in Texas,
Laura

Well, assuming you aren't special size (petite, tall), Sierra Trading post has good deals. LLBean has great quality, as does Lands End, but not the cheapest. Eddie Bauer is variable, some years is great, some years not so good.

This may sound odd, but quite a few people use runner's pants (ankle length bicycle pants, stretchy) as long johns. They are smooth, so easier to move in, and are both thermal and keep moisture away, so pretty comfy.

Quite a few athletes use "under armour" brand under their uniforms.

Me, I like Eddie Bauer, but only on clearance. Lands End, LLBean, and Eddie Bauer all have outlet sites, and Lands End has GREAT deals in their overstock.

Oh, and check www.247malls.com for coupons at the sites. You can also search the site for thermal underwear or long johns, and it is fairly good at getting the hits.

TMI, but I hope it helps. I've had my Eddie Bauer for 4 years. Hubby prefers LL Bean, also 5 years, and he is HARD on things.

Thanks! I will definitely check those places out. I am a bit on the tall side (5'9) and on the larger side - but hopefully will be able to find something that does the trick for me.

I'm 5'10".

Eddie Baeur has everything, men and womens, in tall. LL Bean has tall guys, less for women.

The BEST place I have found for tall women is www.longelegantlegs.com. They are exclusive to tall, and the size runs 4-24, I think, junior, misses, and woman's.

They current have lightweight long underwear in their pj area. Top and bottom are EACH $29. But get on their mailing list, and they will tell you when the clearance hits. Things go fast, but are good prices on clearance.

Carhartt is the best. my husband wears those daily if the weather drops below 60. They are a little pricy but wear for a long time. Personally I can't stand layers of clothes. I feel so tight.

I would recommend buying silk long underwear. Yes, they really are warm with the added bonus that aren't bulky under a pair of pants. cost about $15
