That is a good electric bill. I was paying $400 a month when I lived in Fla. and that was over 20 years ago. I consider our bill, $100 a month usually, to be pretty good. How big a house do you have?(abowers)

my bill is around 150 in the winter and about 100 in the summer. We are working on dealing with the heat no higher than 70 and usually lower than that. but there are days when I am so cold. then I will turn it up but can't stand it any higher than 74.

Next tiem you wonder if soomething used electricity check the 'box' plug if it has one, it gets rather hot, so that is electricity. and a buck or two a month is 12 to 24 a year, pretty nice return for practically no work.

Yes, that is my question to. I will unplug to save money, but it is a pain to get down on the floor and unplug everything if it is really pulling no power. How about toaster, micowave, can opener?

To avoid the hassel of the job, try useing outlet strips for things. for counter top appliaces, countertop plugs are wonderful , but if you don't have them I am not sure I would unplug them, as it is I have to unplug to put away.I do not unplug the alarmclock (resetting everynight! no way), or the stove (I don't even know where the plug is!), or the fridge (duh .) |

Built in appliances are not supposed to be unplugged. If you need to unplug them, the best thing to do is to turn off the circuit breaker. I am not about to unplug my clock and reset it either. I do have a battery operated clock in the toilet room. I don't like toilets out in the open, so in most of our houses, we put them in a seperate toom.

My DH doesn't think turning things off will save much. Our biggest problem electricity wise is th epump on the well. It needs charged so it keeps running and running. The Landlord said that is the way it is so we live with it. Bill isn't too bad, usually under 70 in Winter and I try really hard to keep it down around there in hot weather but I get really sick when it is too hot.
