Question Anybody using the Entertainment Book?

I can't believe I'm actually feeling tempted by a MyPoints offer, but I am.

I can get the 2006 Entertainment Book for $25. Anybody use this thing?

My major hesitation is that I don't eat out all that much, and I almost never go to the movies. The travel discounts, tho, that might be worth the price of admission.

Thoughts?

Yes, we buy an Entertainment book each year. But usually we wait until the price drops to $20 w/free shipping.

If you don't eat out that much, it may not be worth it. My wife and I eat out a fair amount of the time, and easily make up for the money. If you go to www.entertainment.com you can look at some of the deals for your area and gauge if it's worth it to buy it.

ABSOLUTELY.

It gives us a chance to try new restaurants and eat out very reasonably. It is even great for fast food deals, miniature golf, local theaters, attractions, etc. There are coupons for stores too - usually Sharper Image, New York + Company, Foot Locker, Champs, etc.

Last year I bought mine on ebay for $17 - brand new. Check there for your area. And usually the money is going to a good cause ~ They also sell them at many thrift stores and at Sam's Club. (Perhaps others too.) On the Entertainment book website, they are offering free shipping now.

I get my investment back very quickly. And as a member, you are entitled to additional discounts available on their website. Good luck.

It would be great but my closest place to use it is over 2 hours away. I really wish they would bring to these areas.

Why don't you try it out with this offer:

In the freebies section, there is an offer from Pennzoil. They are part of the ONLINE Entertainment book (same entertainment company, book, deals, etc). Sign up with the Pennzoil site, and then log back in with your membership id and they give you 4 free entertainment book coupon prints. You put in your zip code, or from a place you will be for the holidays, or anywhere in the US, they will pull up the list of all the coupons for your area. Choose 4, print, use, see what you think.

To receive additional Entertainment book coupons online, you need to purchase Pennzoil or other participating web site products. But the 4 would give you an opportunity to see if you like them, and want to buy a book. Again, they are the SAME coupons as in the book.

I usually buy one from my local library as it is their major fundraiser for the year. We use a good portion of it.

FYI, the 2006 Entertainment Book is now $20 + shipping (for most cities).

This is pretty good, but will eventually go even lower.

Yes, I use it. It was great when I lived in a smaller community. Now that I'm in Chicago area, there are at least 4 books. With Chicago being so big, we don't use nearly what we use to, but enough to pay for the book.

Just curious, but has anyone used the Nabisco Book of Values? It's supposed to be similar, $500 in offers for 3 UPCs (see the freebies section). All the offers are listed online, but I'm not sure it's worth it.

I used it last year for eating out and I really loved it for saving on eating out.

My wife and I just had a baby so I don't think we'll be getting out of the house much in 2006...

Hi! I'm new here, but my husband and I have 10 kids, and I want to encourage you to get out of the house now and then no matter what! Take the baby with you if you don't want to leave the child with a sitter. You might not want to take the little one to a fancy place, but most family centered places are baby-friendly, and it will do mom and dad a world of good to get out now and then. The coupon book can be a tool to make it easier on your budget. Whatever you do, make dates out a priority, even if they're cheap, micro-mini dates!

Love the entertainment book. I mainly buy it for the rental car coupons. Save so much money that way and the rest is just gravy!

Get many of the Entertainment Book deals online for free this year: http://www.entertainment.com/saversguide/sbc

Supposedly it's just for SBC/AT&T customers, but they do not verify it.

I buy the book every year because it's part of school fund raiser. (I pay $40 for the book, buy hey, it's for a good cause.) I think the book pays off itself even though we don't eat out that much.

So far, I used $10 discount for florist. (My brother-in-law lost his stepson recently, so we sent him some flowers.) $5 coupon for a drug store, and I'm planning to use $5 off coupon for Safeway. So, it's $20 already. Also, I know I will use Buy one get one free pizza for my daughter's birthday party.

You can also exchange coupons with your friends and co-workers.

I used to buy these, but honestly, they make you dine out more than you would otherwise, (unless you've always eaten out a lot) becus you want to feel you're getting your money's worth from buying the book.
