Thumbs up Re: Is anyone feeling the squeeze?

Here in Central NJ, after gas has stayed at $2.27/gallon for the past 2 weeks, it has finally dropped to about $2.19/gallon. I filled up last Saturday and I've only put on 70 miles since then, so at that rate, I really can't let the price of gas bother me.

Luckily we dont pay our gas bill (Thank you Princeton University) but our cable has gone up a couple bucks a month($50-->$53),
and so has my health insurance ($45/every other week-->52/every other week). I am a little bitter about this because I am a healthy person (except for a sore throat last month) so that's a lot of money to be spending every month to not be seeing a doctor or getting prescriptions.

I'm finally recovering from the big car insurance payment of $600 I made last month... and in other good news, I found out that I'll be getting $650 back from my federal return this year!! I did my taxes yesterday.

I'm still doing a good job with cutting my frivolous spending (haven't bought any clothes since early November, and I only buy coffee once every other week maybe).

So currently, I've got a positive outlook, but I think that's largely due to filing my taxes yesterday. I filed online so I could get my refund in as little as 10 days -- I'm very excited

for gas we've been paying anywhere between $2.29-$2.49 a gal <--- gee & I used to complain when I was working about paying $1.39/gal *LOL*

our gas/elec bill this month was about $100 less because we had a warm spurt of weather whereas in Dec we had alot of below freezing & below zero temps. Unfortunatly, the news says we're in for a big freeze again despite our 39+ days of above avg temps. May I say BOO WHOO to puntsatony (sp?) phil & his 6 more weeks of winter!!! We're thankful to see the sun here @ all lately and the sun decides to poke out the one day it shouldn't

Well my husband has two houses to start, one for someone and one is a spec. We can't seem to get anything going, so it has been two weeks without a paycheck. Much as I hate to, I am going to have to take some money out of savings today. I am just thankful that I have the money in savings to take out.

there are alot of people who don't.

We are going to feel the pay squeeze starting next week. Dh will be switching to day shift wich will cause us to loose his night shift premium. We were hoping for a decent annual raise but because the campany is in the "headwinds" he got a big fat ZERO
*sigh* fun fun

I think that's what gas was when I first got my driver's license, in NY anyway. I remember gas being in the mid $1.30's (7 years ago?)

I cannot believe the price of milk. I am glad we use very little. I don't know how people with kids make ends meet! (I can remember when gas was 17cents a gallon)

I never paid over a buck when I drove, long time ago, but we make ends meet by not buying luxuries or well no thats not true, we have lots of luxuries, we just don't buy as many as when we were DINKs! (Dual Income No Kids)

Thanks, he is a builder and just can't get the grading people and the concrete people to do anything. He is on their "list" plus the weather is bad a lot. We have savings and I will just live on that til he gets back to work. At least we are not two paychecks away from being broke, like the average american.
