I got my xmas list done too. This is a big accomplishment for me. I'm not good at organizing lists and such. I still need to get the gifts for each in order. If I can get the xmas shopping before December, we can call it a small miracle.

I started my list. I really wasn't enthused about it, but then I came and read this thread and realised that the hardest part is starting it. Once the first names are down, then the hard part is really over and you can change it as time goes on and as new things come up. I am happy that I did it. It wasn't as bad as I thought and the names are down on paper so I can begin preparing.

Cool Re: i made my christmas list

Hello all,

This year I have decided to start early
and FINISH early.

There will be no more "last minute"shopping
in crowded malls, no more "anxiety" over
how much to spend on what and on who.

The list is READY and this time :

"I have made up my mind to stick to it"

So , I predit a very sunny January 2005 with
no bad news in the financial department.

Because everything bought for Christmas
will have been paid already and CASH only.

Happy New Year 2005 to all.

Maybe this challenge wasn't as early as I thought it was...lol

It is a perennial complaint of shoppers that the consumer frenzy of Christmas begins earlier every year. Usually, however, even the most eager stores wait until the summer heatwave is over.

But not Harrod's, the famous London department store, which on Tuesday opened its Christmas department more than four months before the big day, with the city still enveloped in a fug of warm, humid weather.

Those keen to stock up on decorations and gifts well ahead of the event can now peruse the Christmas World section, all 10,000 square feet (930 square metres) of it.

In a publicity stunt to launch the department, Harrod's arranged for a Santa Claus to preside over the opening, dressed seasonally in Hawaiian shirt and shorts and carrying a surfboard...

LOL. Our Santa here in Australia is always "heat ready" (or way overhot in those lovely red Santa suits). You can all just imagine a "hot" Christmas now. Haven't seen any sign of Christmas in the stores here yet but I'm sure it won't be far away. So do you have budgets for your Christmas lists? And what do you do if you buy something on sale - do you count the value of the gift as the paid price or the retail price?

The value of the gift is whether the it is right for the person in question
If you get stuff on sale - great- means you not going into debt- ther's nothing worse than receiving an expensive present from someone you know couldn't afford it

Hi agree with you on this one.
If more people used common sense when
Christmas time comes along, there would not be
so many people going into bankruptcy.

My sister and I made a pact: we will not give each other presents this year...we will buy "family presents" for the kids (meaning, her children get 1 present from my familiy -aka DD and me!, and DD gets 1 present from my sisters' family - her and her 2 children!)...same thing with my cousin!...My best friends are also going through tough times, so we will probably meet and make a dinner together and that will be it!...My parents...that is my whole list!
