Default Toothbrush vs Electric Toothbrush

I need some opinions on what you think is a better value - a regular toothbrush or an electric toothbrush. Anyone who has an electric toothbrush, do they clean better and do you think it was worth the investment?

Having had both I think that a regular tooth brush works as well if concientiously used. The rechargeable batteryt died on the electric. Being frugal I say just get the regular. You might ask a dentist though!

Santa brought my kids bionicle toothbrushes that are battery operated a few years ago (replaced them several times since then, well Santa and the Easter Bunny did, mom doesn't buy cool toothbrushes). We went the dentist after xmas and they asked if they had electric toothbrushes and I told them about the bionicle ones. They said that they can tell and that the kids teeth get cleaner with the electric kind and that it was really hard for kids to get their teeth as clean with a regular toothbrush.

I use a regular toothbrush but the ones with the hard bristles, I think they may really be for cleaning dentures. Beacuse the bristles are so hard they last for ever, you just have to be careful at first untill your gums become used to the bristles.

Electric Toothbrush for me. My dentist recommended the electric toothbrush about a year ago, when I went back for my six month check-up, she says my teeth are much cleaner. I've noticed that there is less plaque build-up between check ups.

I have only tried a Crest Spin Brush. It has a regular AA battery in it you can replace. You can buy them on sale, battery included, for about $5 sometimes.

Honestly, I can tell the difference when I've used it. It feels like I've just had my teeth cleaned. If I run my tongue along my teeth, I can feel the outlines of each tooth much more, if you know what I mean.

My first Spinbrush actually broke, but they were nice enough to send me coupons for 2 freebies. I don't know how long they normally last. But it might be worth $5 to try and see if you can tell much of a difference, before investing in a more expensive one. Even if it breaks!

I have one too.

When I am using it, I use less toothpaste than with a regular toothbrush.

I swear by my electric toothbrush (Oral-B). I barely need to use any toothpaste and it gets my teeth really clean. Now every visit to the dentist's office is much more pleasant too--the cleanings aren't uncomfortable at all (I used to dread them because my mouth would be so sore) and they rave about how healthy my gums are. I also haven't had to worry about needing any new fillings (I'm still taking care of the ones I needed from before).

I would say that electric was the way to go for me, but it really depends on your own situation. I know plenty of people who can do just as well with a manual brush, and in that case, I say "why pay more for an electric?"

I use a battery operated one and love it. I got about 20 of them for free using coupons and the sale. My dentist told me oral b was the best toothbrush to use.

I think kids really benifit from them, since they tend to be less contientious.

I personally hate how mine got gunked up no matter what I did (tha handle) so I went back to regular.
