Default Freecycle.org

I recently found out about a great Yahoo group that you can join at www.freecycle.org. You select your location and you can join the group close to where you live. I get several e-mails a day from people giving things away that are cluttering their homes but could do someone else some good. People also request things that they need that someone else might be looking to get rid of. It seems like there are a lot of people giving away baby items, furniture and clothes as well as several other odds and ends. It seems like the way to go if you really want to save money!

Freecycle is definitely cool, both as a way to give and to receive!

I've belonged to this for awhile and I have to admit I am considering quiting. I did give away a piano this way and that was great. I occasionally see something I am interested in obtaining but am rarely the "first" person to respond. I guess if you have your email ring a bell when something comes in and can monitor it all day it would be workable. I am a SAHM and never seem to be on at the right time. I imagine it would be even harder in a big city.

I like the idea of the freecycle groups. We had participated for more than a year. We did give away a lot, but also ran into the same problem that any time there was something we were interested it, we could never respond "fast enough". When we gave away the items we always waited 24 hours and tried to randomly pick out of those with a decent e-mail. (More then just I want it.), but I think a lot of people do just give away to the "fastest."

Freecycle is great, but also remember there is lots of free stuff listed on craigslist as well, I have had better experiences with craigslist personally

I posted this a couple weeks ago too and have been in for a couple years. More comments if you do a forum search for 'freecycle' and look for me as the author.

Good place to get rid of stuff. I gave away some really old (1950s) christmas lights this year, but really screened for someone who knew enough not to start a fire or short out the house. Some really interesting responders though (one person was doing a retro photo shoot and needed some).

I also gave away a computer to a man who fixes them up and gives them to needy people for a hobby (as well as bikes, etc.) He calls himself the dinosaur doctor!

I watch it for firewood for our potbellied stove (heats the house at night).

As I work in the solid waste business I'm glad to see more using it. Keep passing the word!

Freecycle is way cool because even if you do nt recieve anything it is a great way to re-cycle things. I love it.

I used to do Freecycle but found that in my area it was difficult to find anything useful. It got to be too time consuming to sift through the hundreds of posts looking for a nugget. I spent more in gas to go get things that turned out to not be what they were advertised. Hope everyone elses experience turns out better.

I was a member for quite sometime. But I can not stay on the computer all day everyday to see if i got the idem I was interested in. Not once did I manage to get anything off of freecycle. Now many folks get stuff from me over and over but there are so many folks asking for the stuff and re-saling it that i give up
