Default Casey Anthony = Not Guilty

The title is pretty self explanatory. Let the comments fly......

Guilty as original sin.

Here's my comment. Why the heck does anybody care? I will never comprehend the public's fascination with the lives of total and complete strangers. There are thousands of murders every year that you never hear a word about until the media grabs hold of some "interesting" story and blows it into some huge circus. Although I didn't care about the OJ case either, I could at least understand why people were attracted to that since he was a celebrity. But Casey Anthony or Lacey Petersen or any similar cases just baffle me. I've got more than enough to hold my attention in my own life and family and friends. I don't need to waste my time reading and watching stories about people who mean absolutely nothing to me.

Simple explanation. When the media enters and makes a circus of any trial (MJ, OJ, etc.), justice goes by the wayside and the trial becomes a farce. The trial was conducted VERY poorly, and by rights should have been declared a mistrial. Seriously, is there ANY benefit we truly gain from having such an intrusive media industry? As soon as their claws dig in to ANYTHING, it goes to pot.

But really, WHO CARES?!? I have almost completely ignored the trial. What happened happened, and what happens will happen, with ZERO impact on my life, so I never wasted time on it.

Same here. I honestly know nothing about this case. I don't know what happened or is alleged to have happened. The only reason I know the verdict was announced today is because everybody in my office left their desks to go out in the waiting room and watch the coverage when it was announced.

One other thought... Even though Ms. Anthony has been acquitted, her life is effectively over. With the level of press coverage, there's probably not an employer in her entire state that isn't aware of what happened. So unless (until... once again, the twisted state of popular media) a publisher offers her a book deal, she's not getting a job anywhere, and she will be exiled from among her friends.

Regardless of the true level of her guild, all she has left is her father (didn't he have a part in covering up the little girl's death?) and a destroyed reputation.

The evidence wasn't very strong;not enough to convict her. If she is guilty she still has to live with that knowledge for the rest of her life

I don't quite know that she killed her daughter. But she admitted to abusing her child and that after her daughter drowned in a pool, she tied up the body and put duct tape on her mouth to make it look like a homicide. She should have been convicted, at the very least, of aggravated child abuse.

It seems as though the prosecution did not prove their case. This may be similar to the Strauss-Kahn case. Should we care? As taxpayers we pay for these cases and I am sure it was expensive for the state. Charges should be filed unless they have a good case. As a taxpayer, we should care about inadequate prosecution of cases.

I agree. I feel that the prosecution overprosocuted in this case. They went all in with a 1st degree murder charge and a possible death penalty when the circumstances and the evidence did not justify it in this case. Had they pursued a lesser charge, I think that the outcome would have been different.

I am personally in the "I don't care" camp - have no idea anything about the case.

Personally I dont give a crap, I just think its a waste of good tax dollars the way the trial was throwned together.. Knowing how important it was to get conviction from the tot mom, the defense should have prepared and presented it better.
