Default Insurance Claims

Is there a rule of thumb of when to call your insurance company or when not to? My windshield cracked in two places. It will cost me $150.00 maybe a little less. Is it worth calling the insurnce company for this? I able to pay for this myself.

Do you have coverage? Does the expense exceed the deductible? Personally, I do not have that coverage 9not worth it). In 40 years of driving, I only have had 2 cracked windshields. Just lucky, I guess!

I do have coverage. The amount would not exceed my deductible. I called and the insurance company will not coverage it until it exceed my deductible.
