Can anyone suggest how I might find a better price on a similar item, please?

My first reaction is...can you go to a lumber yard..or someone that has firewood and really get something that is authentically...a but piece of wood?

Who's your decorator, Paul Bunyan?

This is a perfect example of something you could make yourself. All you need is a hunk of log, a knife and some sandpaper. Could be a fun project.

I was teasing when I began this thread almost a year ago. I was amused that anyone would pay that much for a tree stump. Coincidentally, emanon1501 has just today posted a link to a slideshow on the home decor of someone living on $17,000 per year and they have a tree stump in their living room.

20K yet very pretty stuff in their rented house.

Sorry about your loss of pine trees, terces. Fresh pine makes for sticky furniture, what with all that sap. Why don't you age it for me a couple years and give me a call when you've got it sawed into lumber.
