Default money raising for non for profit.

My daughters attend a non-for-proffit Christian school. We are looking for some NONSELLING fundraisers-currently we collect
1 boxtops for education
2 best choice UPC labels
3 cell phones and empty ink cartriages
4 campbells labels

Does anyone else know of any thing else along this line we could check out?
It must not involve selling. (another committee does that). This committee looks strictly at items that normally would be thrown away that can be turned into cash.
We tried to save aluminam (cant spell) cans, but our nearest recycling center is so far, that it was costing more in gas to get the cans there than what we were making off of them. (This is the grandparents club-things they can collect from anywhere and send to the school to trade for cash for very little postage)

Do you have scrip programs in your area? A school signs up, and then families sign up at various grocery stores, etc. A percentage of the sales go to the school.

Thank you Jen! I passed this on to another committee member, and she is in the process of getting us going on that now. We had never heard of this before, but when she went into the stores, they knew exactly what she was talking about.

Around here you can get the local McDs, Burger King, ChuckECheese and KrispyKreme to do a similar thing, where a percentage is returned to the non-profit. Local grocery stores will sometimes allow people to donate the receipts from can and bottle deposits. You might also think about a craft fair, where you could charge crafters either by the table or a percentage of sales. HTH
