Default Leaving for vacation tomorrow

We will be hitting the road for Florida tomorrow afternoon, arriving in Kissimmee on Saturday evening. We'll be there until August 29 and back home either late that night or sometime on the 30th.

We are renting a house and will have internet access while away, so I'll still be around here, just maybe not quite as much as usual since we'll be busy visiting with Mickey, Minnie, Donald, etc.

Sweet! I'm very jealous as I haven't been there in years and would love to go back. Maybe you can post some pics for us

Have fun!

If I remember right, you don't usually go in August. I'll be curious what you think of the crowds. I thought they were pretty good, when we went in July. Of course, we were at rope drop every morning, to take advantage of lighter crowds.

You are correct. The past 6 years we've gone in November. That just wasn't working for us anymore plus we wanted more time so we opted for this 2-week trip in August. We're hoping crowds will be less than peak since many schools, particularly in the south and New England, are back in session by the 3rd week of August.

Being Disney regulars, we go with a different mindset than many. If we see something, great. If we miss it, no biggie. We'll catch it next time. We don't go commando-style trying to see and do everything possible in a short period of time. We've pretty much seen it all and done it all at least once. There are very few things on our list of must-do activities for this trip.

I'll post some reports (and maybe some pics).

Have a great vacation! Be interested in your take on the economy in FL as feet on the ground. Reports in the media have our snowbirds making plans for other destinations. Is their fear justified?

I've been here less than 24 hours and I can tell you from what I've seen so far that the local economy is booming. The roads are packed. The parking lots of the hotels and malls we've passed have been packed. The restaurants are busy. The place where we had dinner last night was crowded.

I'll keep this question in mind as we go through the trip.

Have fun.

Maybe it's crowded because people are doing less expensive trips like disney instead of flying places?
