Default Plumbing Question PVC or Copper?

i got an estimate today on the pipes that we have to replace. I intend ot get a couple more estimates but in the meantime I have a question. Should we go copper or PVC? The price on PVC is 250 dollars cheaper so I lean that way but don't want to have to redo something in a few years, or even a couple decades. I would be grateful for any advice.

A guy at work swears by copper, I do my own and i use pvc mainly because i would rather not use a blow torch. If i had the nerve i'd probably go copper.

My uncle and his two sons in law install plumbing in new homes. Some builders ask them to do PVC and they refuse to work with those builders. They use 100% copper.

I thought copper lasted "forever." Seems like it would be preferable to go copper. It would also help the value of your home.

I am suspicious that the PVC would only be 250 less than copper,

I suspect that you are being overcharged for PVC go to home depot and look at the cost of PVC it cost so much less than copper and is so much easier to install it the bid should be far less than the copper bid

I only do copper copper has some sort of microbial quality as well as it being long lasting

PVC is gross when we remove it it is full of slime, fresh water lines coated with slime ick

when we buy a place we always replace the PVC with copper but we do it ourselves I would never consider PVC unless I was going to sell a place right away and just needed working plumbing in a quick cheap hurry

My dad (used to be a plumber) swears by copper and refuses to put in PVC. We just bought a 100+ year old house and had to replace a bunch of plumbing. When DH was complaining about the price of copper, my dad said said "You can either put in copper or I'll go home."
