Question Ask utility to bury lines?

I want to contact our electric company to bury the power lines running to our home. Does anybody have experience doing this? What can I expect?

I have a friend who did it themselves because they live on private property. Depending on where you live, often burring the power lines can be a bad idea.

There is some king of gel coating the wires inside but covered by the plastic over it. It attracts rabbits and squirrels and they chew away the plastic to get the gel. then power goes out and it is incredibly expensive to replace.

For telephone it is several hundred dollars per yard (at least for the teleco I worked for for 20+ years). I've heard electric is a little more.
