I'm not sure if that's THE geekiest thing I've seen....

But it's up there!

Do I win anything for having seen this before? No? Maybe that's for the best.

Well, would you like something really geeky? Try this:
Geekiest. After it loads, click on 'cllicky'. Oh, yeah -- the music is Rammstien so crank up your speakers!

Is it wrong that I think this is great?

poundwise -- it is sooo wrong! If you (are old enough to) remember UseNet and .sig files - just imagine hitting ascii art like that on 2400 baud modem while trying to read a bbs post!!

I loved the lol bombs and roflmao missiles (or whichever was which)

Wow, you could seriously win the Resident Geek award with that comment. But then, with a bitmap avatar like that, I figure you were hardcore.

I remember my first modem. It was a hand-me-down 300 baud, and 2400 just came out (but couldn't afford one back then). Of course, ascii art was already in back then, but I've never seen animations like that until much later on the internet. Oh yeah, if I knew it was possible back then... and on a 2400 baud, I would've flipped my gourd.

/me tries out his LOLLERSKATES for old time sake...

Oh, lordy, yes - was the 300 baud an acoustically coupled modem (ie, actually stick the handset into rubber couplers) or did you get one of the fancy-schmancy ones that would plug into the phone?

No, it wasn't the acoustically coupled type.... That was a little ah... behind my times.

/me bows to your supreme geekness.
