Angry Why are the Smilies so ANGRY!?

I apologize if this has been brought up before, I'm not sure if it has. I wasn't going to say anything but this has really gotten on my nerves and I have to speak up!

Why is it that when you go to start or post to a thread, only 2 of the 15 "Smilies" are actually... well, SMILING? (They're and )

The other 13 aren't "Smilies" at all -- they're ANGRY and downright PISSED OFF!!!

It might seem silly, but seeing all those hostile buggers actually gives off a very negative vibe to those participating in the Saving Advice forums. Maybe it's just me, but I really hate it! It actually creates tension in me, even when I'm posting something positive or neutral -- like this post, for instance.

I understand that talking or thinking about money can be a downer for many people, but isn't one of the reasons this site exists is to help people feel more positive about money and their management of it?

Is there any way to shift the Smilies around to that only 3 or 4 of them are angry Smilies, and make the rest happy Smilies? Or at least 50/50? I participate in several online forums and this is the only one with so many mean-looking Smilies showing.

Jenney - I actually PM'ed Jeffrey about this last week and he said he was going to have Nate look into it. I totally agree with you.

I'm glad I'm not the only one bothered by grumpy smilies.

So where do you get this smilies list anyway?

Anytime you post a new thread or reply, to the right of the box where you type is a selection of smilies. If you click on More, you get a ton of options, but the 15 in the default box are almost all really nasty.

Wow, I'm really glad I'm not the only one who finds this irritating! The weird thing is, I don't think I noticed it at first but as I started posting more to this site's forums, the more distracted I'd get by seeing and and and to the right of the post box (among others).

For those who don't know what I'm talking about, you'll see the Smilies list when you click on the "Quote" button on the bottom-right of someone else's post, or if you click on the "Go Advanced" button under the "Quick Reply" post box under the thread. If you only ever use the "Quick Reply" posting method, then you never see any Smilies.

I really hope this is something that can be changed. It may seem petty but I think it really does emit a bad vibe.

LOL! It always bothered me too. I never could find a happy expression for my words... even if you go to look for some more, the main tops ones are angry.

aha! I changed my editing options in the control panel.

Now I see a whole bunch of cranky faces...

If you want a short fix to get rid of them, go to your own control panel and chose 'basic options' under the editing box.

It isn't just that I don't want the cranky ones but that I DO want the good ones. Now, you have to click on more to pull up the full menu. I'd like if the 15 default ones were mostly good ones, though we all need an occasional nasty guy.

I posted those just because I could.

Well, I must say I enjoyed this little thread and all its smilies & grumpies. I try to be sparing with them, but sometimes I just can't resist.

Oh, dear. My little, grey puppy dog does not appear to be animated, but stuck in a most unwholesone position. And me without my pooper scooper! (A smilie would be good here, but I don't want to overwhelm the system.)
