Re: Nate/Jeffrey - My Addicted Sloppy Whine!
Can't get into the original thread to post but here goes. When I click on the last post arrow next to the time/date stamp whozit I get a Microsoft Internet Explorer popup that says:
"Internet explorer cannot open the Internet site:
http://www.savingadvice.com/forums/s...393#post124393
Operation aborted."
That's it - it doesn't allow you to scroll up or down the thread, leave a message inside that thread - you must click okay to get rid of the popup and then it goes to the page that says that says:
Page cannot be displayed...then standard text about how to fix problems by refreshing, etc.
To get back to the website, you have to click back an additional link back -IOW skip the first option and go to line two in the backwards queue. Sorry, I'm not more of a technical wizard!
*addition- even when I use the other entry method onto the thread such as:

Uh oh. Danger! Pouting in progress. Weak... against... woman... pouting!
I'm on FireFox / Win2000, and the link is working fine.
Is there anything else you do that causes that error?

Re: Nate/Jeffrey - My Addicted Sloppy Whine!
hmmm....good question - I don't know - will ask techie (The Hubster) when he gets home tonight - he's always Tim Tayloring (tweaking) this badboy!! Sometimes that's a good thing sometimes not so good!
Something sure as shooting is endangering my Vista! Idon't know if that ison here or not -just joking around. He did install a new keyboard on this one last night and the space bar is stuck about halfthetime. Hid the old one and I can't find it today!
When I type like this with the darnthingstuckthis iswhatit looks like as half the time the darn thing is stuck inneutral! GRRR! Then it goes on a spacing freeeeeeakkkkoutand skips a bunch o' spaces!.... ifitwasn'tsofrustrating it'd be funny!
I think somebodyis tellingme I need to be working on something else! Ha!
So, I've been updatingCashHappySon's budget this afternoon instead. Needed tobedone, but I'd rather be reading the threads.
Thanks for everyone's help.

Lux, my computer has been sporadically doing the same thing for the last couple of days. I haven't done anything different, so I don't know what is going on with our internet services!

Re: Nate/Jeffrey - My Addicted Sloppy Whine!
PrincessPerky - I don't know what adware is - so I don't think so. As of late this afternoon after about 4:30 or so central time (this is not exact) the threads have all been visible again. Appears that Nate has worked his magic again.
XXfingers crossedXX
...and here's hoping for smooth sailing again tomorrow! Thanks everyone. I was glad when others started posting that they were having similar problems because I thought I was going bonkers alone there for awhile!
Ohhhh and Hubster has been hiding back a wireless keyboard and wireless mouse that he ??installed/hooked up?? for me tonight. No more stuck space bar!

Re: Nate/Jeffrey - My Addicted Sloppy Whine!
I am still having that same problem when viewing many threads from home. What seemed to work (today)...when I got the "Page cannot be displayed", I hit the back button and then I could view the thread. This did not work before.
I can't believe that I am saying this...but I am glad to be back at work today, so I can get my Saving Advice fix!!!!

If it helps any, when you get the "Page cannot be displayed" errors, it means there's something wrong with the information you're receiving from the website.
The cause for this is... numerous. In basic terms, the server could be sending an improper web page, your connection with the website may be flaky, and/or there could be something wrong with your browser.
Usually, when you hit the back button, the browser fetches the already-saved information from your browser cache rather than fetch from the website again. Sort of an performance enhancement feature if you will. But that's why it usually works when you hit the back button.
Of course, it still doesn't nail down the root cause of what's Lux's errors. Is it consistent? Is it during a time when an admin is making change to the website? Does it go away after a while?

Re: Nate/Jeffrey - My Addicted Sloppy Whine!
I guess I didn't make it clear in my last post that I am getting the same error message as Lux. When I click the 'ok' button in that message box, it brings me to "This page can not be displayed". Hitting the back button made the page come up today, but it did not work over the weekend.
When I first started having the problem last week, it seemed to only happen in threads that I had previously posted....this weekend it was pretty much every thread.

Re: Nate/Jeffrey - My Addicted Sloppy Whine!
Okay i've made a few more changes just now that may have been the cause. I would suggest clearing your browser cache (as BR mentioned as well), just in case. Here's how to do that: http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/...learcache.mspx
Again, if you continue having problems please let me know in this thread.
