Dont' be sad, Mabuisakura. That's plenty good enough. Don't let typing freaks like sweeps throw you off.

I work for a state telecommunications relay service for the deaf and hard of hearing (I was an operator for over a year before being promoted to my current position). We are mandated by federal law that our operators must type 60+ wpm in order to keep their job. The majority of our operators nationwide I'd say average 65 to 85 wpm. We do have about 5% of operators who can type 100+ wpm easily from oral recitation (operators type verbal correspondence over the phones to deaf people who use tty's). I would say that it is much easier to reach higher speeds from oral recitation than it is from reading... My plateau for oral related typing is about 95 wpm, but my read-to-type max is at about 85 wpm.. my best on this test so far is 87 wpm and 2 errors.

It is fun tho... very addictive.

Well, Jan, I'm dating myself with you, my high school had the same set up -- we had 1/3 electric IBMs and the rest manual typewriters. During summers I worked for a small town newspaper and they had only manuals and they had been pretty beat up and were a pain to use. Literally. My hands would ache every night.

We didn't have any manuals, but electic typewriters were just being phased out in our school, replaced by a computer room! Yeah, those were the days.... My mom would always give me a dollar for lunch, but I would secretly squirrel it away while I spent my lunch periods in the computer room making games. Hehehe.
